On Eagles Wings

You who dwell...(On eagles wings)
who abide in His shadow for life,
say to the Lord: 'My refuge,
my God in whom I trust!'
And He will raise you up on eagles' wings,
bear you on the breath of dawn,
make you to shine like the sun,
and hold you in the palm of His hand.
The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
and famine will bring you no fear:
under His wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield.
And He will raise you up on eagles' wings,
bear you on the breath of dawn,
make you to shine like the sun,
and hold you in the palm of His hand.
You need not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day;
though thousands fall about you,
near you it shall not come.
And He will raise you up on eagles' wings,
bear you on the breath of dawn,
make you to shine like the sun,
and hold you in the palm of His hand.
For to His angels He's given a command
to guard you in all of your ways'
upon their hands they will bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
And He will raise you up on eagles' wings,
bear you on the breath of dawn,
make you to shine like the sun,
and hold you in the palm of His hand.

To laugh often and much,
to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Take My Hand

I cannot ease your aching heart,
Nor take your pain away,
But let me stay and take your hand
And walk with you today.
I'll listen when you need to talk,
I'll wipe away your tears,
I'll share your worries when they come,
I'll help you face your fears.
I'm here and I will stand by you,
Each hill you have to climb.
So take my hand, let's face the world
Live one day at a time.
You're not alone, for I'm still here...
I'll go that extra mile,
And when your grief is easier,
I'll help you learn to smile!

An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with
freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in
line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating
them with tiger paws.
"You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a girl in the
line said to the little fella.
Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down
next to him. "I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always
wanted freckles," she said, while tracing her finger across the child's
cheek. "Freckles are beautiful."
The boy looked up, "Really?"
"Of course," said the grandmother.
"Just name one thing that's prettier than freckles."
The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's
face, and softly whispered, "Wrinkles."

Prayer: LORD, I want to always keep in mind the ultimate purpose and
goal for our lives here. It is very easy to be distracted by concerns
and things that are not important. Help me to so discipline my life
that I keep a sharp focus on the goal at all times. I thank You for
Your leadership through Your Word and Your Spirit. Help me to discern
Your direction for my life in every situation and follow it without
hesitation or reservation. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Psalm 90:2

Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Why

Why.. command the waves to halt..in their endless march to the shore
Instead.. find serenity in the constant..soothing rhythm of their parting
Why.. tell the moon to break its journey..across the darkened sky
Instead.. be fascinated by the shadows..cast by the moon's silvery light
Why.. ask the brook to cease..its tumbling rush for the distant sea
Instead.. surrender to the joyful sounds..created by the bubbling chatter
Why.. call upon the river to relinquish its will to ramble over the land
Instead.. marvel at the power and grandeur..in the river's mighty breadth
Why.. direct the winds to save its breath..and pause to rest it's unbounded whirling
Instead.. know the soft caress and gentle kiss..of the cooling breeze upon your skin
Why.. implore the rain to dry its tears..and end the shower of sorrow it releases
Instead..rejoice in the profusion of wild flowers..nourished by the weeping clouds passing by
Why.. question the sun for rising with the dawn..setting with the twilight or playing peek-a-boo with the clouds
Instead.. feel the warmth of golden rays..knowing it will ascend once more... laughing with the chase
Why.. study the stars to know their source..and map their nightly scheme
Instead.. make a wish upon the brightest star..and take delight in their promenade
Why.. Wonder at all you see before you..and the things you cannot understand scattered throughout this vast and far reaching land
Instead.. Be grateful and thankful for the splendor of all your eyes behold knowing it was made possible.. by His hand

I Make All Things New

Text Taken From The Book Of Revelations Chapter 21: 1-7

Then I saw a new Heaven and a new earth; for the first Heaven and the first
earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband;
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling of
God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people,
and God Himself shall be with them; He will wipe away every tear from their
eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor
crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
And He who sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new."
Also He said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true."

Psalm 23, Expanded and Antiphonal

It's a cruel world of desire and longing
That's never fulfilled, and so we ever cry for more.
--
The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall lack nothing.
--
It's so busy here. So busy and frustrating
With cares and worries that crush the spirit.
--
He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
--
It's hard to rest
To find that moment of silence
Amid the bashing
Crashing
Tumult.
--
He leads me beside the still waters.
--
Oh, I'm lost
And alone
With nowhere to turn
Or run to for help.
--
He restores my soul.
--
It's so big
And confusing
And I do not know what I must do
Where I must go.
--
He leads me in paths of righteousness
For His name's sake.
--
Oh, how this world frightens me
With death and disaster
Pain and privation
Where nothing is regarded as safe from attack.
--
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil for You are with me.
--
And foes stand round about me all the day
Seeking my demise, my final and definite undoing.
--
Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.
--
I'm hungry
Thirsty
Wounded
And oppressed
Oh, that One might reach down to me
With a simple touch of healing.
--
You set a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil. My cup overflows.
--
Oh, look
There
Before me
At last
My Refuge and Strength
My Hope and Comfort
Sent to carry me Home
To Love's
Safe,
Reviving.
--
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Deliver us from evil, Lord and keep us from being lead into temptation.
To the extent that we forgive the trespasses of others, we ask You to forgive us.
You give to us our daily bread as we seek the kingdom of Heaven here on earth.
And when Your will is done, Your kingdom comes in wisdom and in truth.
For Your name is Holy, and You are our Father in Heaven!

"The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us."

Life's Journey

Life is a journey through many terrains, from gardens of pleasure to deserts of pain. From an ocean of love to a jungle of hate, from mountains of glory to canyons of fate.

There's a highway for joy and a highway for sorrow, a road for today and a road for tomorrow, so choose your path wisely and walk it with care. If you follow your heart, you'll find your way there.

I've been to the garden and planted seeds there, I've been to the desert and felt the despair. I've swam in the ocean and drank of its wine, {and I've soared the skies through clouds device.}

I climbed up the mountain to touch the sky, I went to the canyon and started to cry. I've traveled both highways: both today and tomorrow; I've basked in the joy and wallowed in sorrow.

My path has been chosen and I've walked it with care; I followed my heart and I'm on my way there. So I'll just keep walking till I find what I'm after, to mountains and oceans and gardens of laughter.

We live in a time when we do not have to wait very long for the
things we want, and we like it that way. This is why we get frustrated when our time frame is delayed by someone else's inability to make a decision. Think about the last time you were in line at a store and the person in front of you could not make up their mind. We do not respond well to waiting.
This haste carries into our prayer life as well. We rejoice when God
answers "yes" and we try to understand when He answers "no." However, there is a third answer to prayer and it may well be most frustrating of all "Wait."

God knows the best time to answer our prayers; maybe we are not spiritually mature at that time. Take time to thank Him for His wisdom in making us wait even when we don't want to.
Wait on Him for your answer. It is in His mighty plan. Patience is
the key to unlock the door of His Heart. There your peace and comfort will attain a brand new start.

We all come from one Great Spirit but we are all different and unique.
Nothing in the Great Creation has a twin that is identical. Even children that are twins are different. Every single person is extremely special and unique.
Each person has a purpose and reason why they are on the Earth.
Just like every leaf on a tree is different, each one is needed to make the tree look like it does. No leaf is better or worse than the other- all leafs are of equal worth and belong on the tree. It is the same with human beings.
We each belong here and do things that will affect the great whole.

Great Spirit, today, let me see myself as a valuable contributor to the whole.

Ancient Voices

Did you listen today? What did your hear?
The ancient ones call and we feel them around us, but we do not listen. We no longer hear the voices in the wind as the leaves and branches tell us stories. The moon brings us messages and we do not see them. We are too busy with the world created by man. Take your children back to the times when the voices were heard and the signs were given. Go back before the importance of Creation leaves us forever. The voices of the ancestors may have been silenced by the death call but they are only a whisper away. Their music may have faded from our ears but must we let the delicate sounds of our past go with them? Our children need the teachings that are leaving us forever. Sing the words in a lullaby, whisper to them so they hear, lead them and they will follow. Never let our traditions die. Respected and revered the old ones still walk with us. They hold our hand to help us see. They still lead us and we must follow. We need not let the dreams they had for the future depart this life. This is why they honored us with their wisdom. When they leave us one by one, they take the book with them, leaving a patchwork of dreams on the web of life. What we do with the patches will help us to grow in wisdom. The Earth Mother is bountiful enough for all her children. Working together we can bring back the unique and powerful voice of our past. Grasp the insights and perceptions in the wind. The future of our children depends on our actions today. Do not let the voices of the ancestors or the echoes of their songs fade away.

This Too Shall Pass

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be-
If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me-
If I can but keep on believing
What I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
And that this will pass away, too-
Then nothing in life can defeat me
For as long as this knowledge remains
I can suffer whatever is happening
For I know God will break all of the chains
That are binding me tight in the darkness
And trying to fill me with fear-
For there is no night without dawning
And I know that my morning is near.

(Psa 119:10-12 NIV)
I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands. I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You. Praise be to You, O LORD; teach me Your decrees.

Prayer: LORD, help me to judge all my actions, decisions, and words by the standard of Your word. In doing so, I will be able to make wise decisions for my own life and others. As I seek to know You better, give me greater understanding of the truth in Your word and of Your way of doing things.
In Jesus' name. Amen.

That Day Gets Closer With Every Breath

Although it sometimes seems to us our prayers have not been heard,
God always knows our every need without a single word.
And He will not forsake us even though the way is steep,
For He is always near to us, a tender watch to keep....
And in good time He'll answer us, and in His love He'll send
Greater things than we have asked and blessings without end.
So though we do not understand why trouble comes to man,
Can we not be contented just to know it's God's plan?

"Father, in Jesus' name. I repent of any sin that brings You
displeasure. I ask You to forgive me. I want to hear from You. I need
You, Father. I need to hear from You. Pull me away and help me stop
and do the necessary preparation to hear from You. Help me to relate
to You as a spirit. Slow me down to seek after You. Calm my spirit.
Help me draw near to You. Increase my trust in You. Help me to be
disciplined to read Your word and do my part. Lead me to anyone that
would help me find my way. Help me make that connection. Give someone
concern for my well-being. I know Your promise, Your sheep hear Your
voice. Pull me close Father, say it again if I missed hearing You
correctly. Father, I want to know I am loved by You and I want to
feel loved by You. I draw near to You Father, send Your love over me.
Let this love give me the courage to change. Let this love make me
feel secure as a branch. Let me desire sap from the vine. Give me a
gift of being able to abide in You
, of being able to trust Your
timing and ways. Father, give me an attitude of expectancy. Let me
live and act like I serve a God who is strong and mighty, one who
promised His children provisions but let me never forget Your children must walk in faith."

"At the Cross! At the Cross!"

"Where I first saw the light and the
burden of my heart rolled away. It was there by faith I received
my sight and now I am happy all the day!"
Happy all the day? No. As Christians, we know we are not "happy all
the day" by the earthly conventional (days and diets) kind of
standard. The security (happiness & joy) we possess can only come
when we hold fast to the promise we have in Jesus Christ. Too often,
we lose our focus. Our burdens, born in earthly circumstances,
dethrone Him. We replace His desires, His love, His will and His
burden for our own. Fortunately and mercifully, He understands.
He continually trains us in His time and through His divine control
of each circumstance we experience. Isn't it wonderful to know that
we are His workmanship in various stages of divine progress? Each
time I think that the "This Property is Condemned" signs are about to
be posted on me, He teaches and comforts me 'through' in yet another
way. Sometimes (but not nearly often enough) I'm even fortunate to
see His work at the time rather than recognize His hand after the
fact.

We are living in remarkable times. There has never been a moment when
it was more important for us to "watch" for His hand in our lives and
in the "life" of the ministries of His church. Many cities in our
country continue to grow at a rapid pace but "they" suffer from a
heart defect. Far too many residents have a hole in their hearts
where God should be. Some don't know their own peril. They face the
greatest crisis and the worst danger anyone can encounter-heading
towards an inevitable eternity without a saving
faith in Jesus Christ.

How will the Lord use you to reach those who don't know Him? What
ministry in His church are you being called to? Is His burden your
burden? Are you focused? How many in your community continue to
commit spiritual suicide, unnoticed? Isn't it His will that not one
be lost? In the coming days, weeks, or years we have until Jesus
comes, may the Lord bless us and use us as His instruments for His
sake and for His glory!

Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.
When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.
When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.
When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.
When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.
When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.
When you're feeling tired, dare to keep going.
When times are tough, dare to be tougher.
When love hurts you, dare to love again.
When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.
When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.
When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.
When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.
When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.
When the day has ended, dare to feel that you've done your best.
Dare to be the best you can
At all times, Dare to be!

(1 Cor 15:16-20 NLT)
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then
Christ has not been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then
your faith is useless, and you are still under condemnation for your
sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ have
perished! And if we have hope in Christ only for this life, we are
the most miserable people in the world. But the fact is that Christ
has been raised from the dead. He has become the first of a great
harvest of those who will be raised to life again.

Prayer: LORD, I am grateful that just as You were raised from the
dead and live forever, I will live also through You! May I never
take for granted the terrible price You paid for my life and the
assurance of eternal life You have given me. Help me to share the
reality of this hope with others today who do not have this
consolation and assurance.
In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Flow Of Life

If the sky above seems cloudy, and you are left out in the rain,
If you are searching for a rainbow, but the colors bring you pain,
If your world is not revolving, and there is no end in sight,
If you are looking for the sunshine, but all you see is night,
If all around are smiling, but all you can do is frown,
If you are tired of all this living, when life just brings you down,
Then look beyond your teardrops, at the wonders of this land,
The beauty of a flower, like velvet in your hand.
Feel the air around you, the smell of new mown hay,
Laughing children in the park, the innocence there at play,
Imagine floating with a butterfly, as she flutters between the trees,
Or the whispers of the ocean, on warm hot summer's breeze,
Think of the taste of candy floss, as it melts upon your tongue,
Or the melody of morning birds, as they greet each day with song,
Remember words of beauty, told in your mother's embrace,
Feel the gentleness of her touch, as she softly kissed your face,
Seek the good within you, cast the clouds from your sky,
Don't look toward the pavement, but hold your head up high,
Think not what life owes you, but of all you have to give,
Forget about tomorrow, then you can start to live.
So bless this age you're living in, with the gifts you can bestow,
Don't disregard the stream of life, go gently with the flow.

It has been asked before
That God bless all the children
To anoint them with love forevermore
Care for them and tend to their needs
To exhaust our energies and to share
Give them good things...that life expends
It's up to the adults to beware
Of their tender side...so fragile
They look to us for everything
With eyes opened wide
Expecting nothing but sunshine to bring
Giving all they have to give
They live on this great earth of ours
Watching our every movement
The elders of their being are their stars
As they grow and learn
To ignore them as if they are not there
Is ignoring our future...our lives
And so, how can we not care?
They are our pot of gold
Our gold at the end of the rainbow
Let us nourish and show the way
As we watch them, as flowers grow
Into our future....it's not that far away

Cherish Today
Yesterday Is But A Dream...
Tomorrow, A Vision Of Hope...
Look To This Day For It Is Life

************************

There's a time for us to say "goodbye",
A time for memories to take their start,
A time for tears and certain fears
And longings in the heart
The voices soon may fade away
The names become a blur,
Past plans seem more like shadows now
Of dreams that 'almost' were.
So here's a wish meant just for you,
You're a very special kind,
And wherever you go may Peace and Love
Be following close behind.
Now this path will surely take you
To a future yet far away.
But once there think back to those you've touched
And the memories you made today.
It's true, you see, time really does fly,
Only very few things stay the same,
Like the thought of one special moment,
An embrace...or a voice...or a name.
So take every day and enjoy it,
Live it sweetly to its very end,
And however the harsh winds torment you,
Like a willow...you must learn to bend.
My wish now is really quite simple,
A path filled with Joy, Strength and Health,
To touch all of your heart, and light up your soul,
And fill up your mind with true wealth.

An article in National Geographic several years
ago provides a penetrating picture of God's wings.

After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, Forest Rangers
began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage. One
Ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched
statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree.
Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a
stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from
under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of
impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree
and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the
toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had
refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the
heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast.
Because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her
wings would live.

"He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will
find refuge." (Psalm 91:4) Being loved this much should make a
difference in your life. Remember the One who loves you, and then be
different because of it.

If we could remember that the divine mercy is not a temporary mood
but an attribute of God's eternal being, we would no longer fear that
it will someday cease to be. Nothing that has occurred or will occur
in Heaven or earth or hell can change the tender mercies of our God.
Forever His mercy stands, a boundless, overwhelming immensity of
divine pity and compassion.

Prayer for the People

Grandfather, I stand here looking to the sky in hope that You see me.
I pray hoping You hear me, my arms are up hoping to hug You.
I pray for the people so that they may live.
Grandfather, You have given me so much. I am honored.
Today I give my voice that it may be heard.
I pray today that there may be peace in all the world.
There is so much talk of war.
I pray there will be another answer. In war so
many people die for no reason of their own.
I pray today Grandfather for the world leaders.
I pray they make the right decisions.
We are all related and no matter who it is I would hate to see people die.
There may be some that are confused and think war is the answer.
Violence is surely not the best way but may be the only way to solve some problems.
I can't help but think of all the old ones and children that may be
involved, innocently, and die for no reason.
It seems some want war badly and maybe can't see the total outcome of it.
The people are afraid and it hurts me to know they are scared.
I hope these world leaders will think more carefully and make the right decisions and not just want war no matter what is said by others.
If it's totally necessary then it is.
It saddens me to think someone can involve so many men and women to go to battle and sacrifice their own lives and the well being of their families.
If they don't come home, many lose their loved ones and the chance to hug them again in this life.
I think of the children that may lose a parent, a wife or husband, their spouse and love of their life.
A parent to lose a child and their hearts become sad.
I pray to you, Grandfather, that things will change in a good way and all this will cease.
I pray, that we all, can learn to live in peace with all people and all things
as you have intended it to be.
I am but a poor pitiful human being wanting all people to live in harmony.
Is this too much for me to pray for??
Bring peace to the people Grandfather and soften the hearts of those that have been hardened by hate, by jealousy, or any other emotion that may bring a negative thought or action.
To the people reading this, no matter where you are, who you are or how you believe, I want you to know, I love you and your people.
I pray for you to have enough of good things to allow your life to be lived in a good way.
Love all people my friends as they are your relations.
Pray for their spirit and well being.
Pray for the old ones, the children, that they may be happy and safe.
I pray, Grandfather that the old ones have what they need to get them through the day.
I pray all people have proper shelter, food, clothing and that they are comfortable.
I pray that all the children in this world will have the same and that they there are none anywhere in this world that will have to go to bed tonight with hunger in it's little stomach, or fear in its little precious heart.
If we all could love to learn to love like a child, this world would be a lot better place.
This world is not ours, but theirs and their children and grandchildren.
What kind of earth are you trying to leave them??
Thank you, my people, and be assured I love you and this prayer is for you..
We do not have to pray so much for ourselves as other people are doing that for us.
Thank you Grandfather for all the ceremonies. My people have fought and died to protect them so they can be passed on to our children.
They are, sacred, powerful, and should be seen as such.
They are to be shared and taught to those that have a deep respect for this way of life.
Spiritualism is not a religion.
It is a way of life.
It is possible to be religious and not be spiritual.
Thank you, my relations for your time and join me in praying everyday for peace for the people

Life is good, and it's extremely simple.
It is infinite, intelligent, and
absolutely responsive. It works by means of spiritual laws
that take the content of my consciousness and produce my
life experience. Whatever seeds I sow in heart, thought,
word, and deed, I reap in abundance.

I make it my business to be sure that my consciousness
is all about only what I desire;
I choose to allot no time to wishing
and hoping and regretting.
Instead, I use my time to
plan, envision, and co-create the life I dream of!
There's nothing that can keep me from using this law,
nothing can impede its mechanical, impersonal action.
And nothing can diminish my experience of gratitude for the absolute love, infinite givingness, and complete immediacy
of this universal beloved that I call God.
It's always here, responding to me in kind,
and creating good and more good.
And I accept it by the truckload.
And so it is.

God's Gift

Yesterday a butterfly
Came floating gently through the sky.
He soared up through the atmosphere
Then drifted close enough to hear.

I said, "I'd love to fly with you
And sail around the way you do.
It looks like it would be such fun
To fly up toward the summer sun.

But I have not your graceful charm.
I haven't wings, just these two arms.
I've been designed to walk around.
My human feet must touch the ground."

Then magically he spoke to me
and told me what his wish would be.

He said, "What I'd love most to do
Is walk upon God's Earth with you,
To squish its mud between my toes
Or touch my finger to my nose.

I'd love just once to walk around
With human feet to touch the ground,
But I have not two legs that swing,
I haven't arms, just these two wings."

And so we went our separate ways
In wonder and surprise.
For we'd both seen God's precious gifts
Through someone else's eyes."

Spirit Wind

Quivering delight overtakes me with gay
anticipation as I watch the eagles soar.
Riding on the winds of time it creates an amorous
wooing within the spiritual realm.
Joy comes so easily to my spiritual side,
I sit in awe and passionate delight as I experience
Daily, deeper understanding of my spiritual world.
How delightful the power of the eagle as it soars above me.

Carrying my spirit to the wind.

Imagine

Imagine every day without sunshine,
And what I felt like when you were no longer mine,
imagine every night without stars in the sky,
and what it feels like to just break down and cry.
imagine no water flowing in the sea,
and all the forests without even a tree
imagine total darkness without
a ray of light, and if you can a very long and lonely night,
imagine the early morning grass without any dew,
and if you can imagine all these things, then you've imagined
my world without you.

My Evening Prayer

Oh Great Spirit grant me time to think, it is the source of Your power ..........
stand beside me and guide me in my darkest hour .....
grant me the wisdom to listen and read........,
for it's the fountain of wisdom for all my needs .......
come to me on my evening calls, when my prayers are placed........
my heart stands alone and open for Your daily grace.. .....
guide me to the path of happiness and make a friend to all man,
one they can hold ........
help me show them peace and laughter,
it is the music of the soul ......
help me to make my work meaningful before I come to You for rest .......
let my time on earth be one of charity and when
I come home knowing I have done my best ....
and grant me time to love and be loved ,.
Your greatest gift of all I that I know ........
for I am of Your spirit and grace to others I shall show .....

Struggles

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly.
One day a small opening appeared; he sat and watched
the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through
that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress.
It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther.
Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors
and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and
small, shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that,
at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to
support the body, which would contract in time.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling
around with a swollen body and shriveled wings.
It never was able to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was
that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to
get through the tiny opening were nature's way of forcing fluid from the
body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once
it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If nature allowed
us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us.
We would not be as strong as what we could have been.

And we could never fly...

"The Recipe Book"

I ran across a book one day at a flea market seller's stall.
I said, "What do you want for this?" He sighed, "Fifty cents is all."
It looked quite old and dirty but some recipes looked good.
I put it on my nightstand, I would read it when I could.
That night I wiped the cover and took a peek inside.
I found more than some recipes, this was a sweet surprise
The well-worn pages told me about this woman's life.
Each family member's favorites were marked and noted twice.
Her first pot roast was stringy she noted with shaky hand.
Her new husband had eaten it but said it was so bland!
Favorite cakes were circled there, sometimes there was a smudge.
"This is Jimmy's favorite" Had a trace of chocolate fudge!
Through the angel cakes and fritters I saw a pattern form.
Notes were made throughout this book so tattered, and so worn.
Old coupons were still in the back I found a pocket there.
And in the very bottom a dry rose, a lock of hair.
Bits of poems and sage advice were scribbled through the book.
She took me through her life and past I learned more than what to cook.
I think what bothered me the most was the inscription in the front.
"I give this book to my daughter Jen, I hope it helps you some."
I wonder why the book was there obviously cast aside.
It represented a mother's heart, all the love she held inside.
From baby food and funeral pie my eyes were close to sleep.
I smiled and thought, "Don't worry Mom" Your treasure I will keep.
Next morning I wrapped the book in tissue, clean and white
I look forward to my visits there each and every night.
I knew I'd found some memories worth more than purest gold.
I think I'll try the chicken soup that cured Aunt Mabel's cold.

divine pity and compassion.

In Touch

In life you have to make the time, to spend with those you love.
It only takes a minute . . . to call, those you are thinking of.
I did not take the time to tell my Father how I felt.
I thought, when in the parlor, by the casket, where I knelt.
We loved each other very much, but did not take the time,
To stop and say, "I love you," now the guilt I feel is mine.
Sitting in the quiet lounge, at the funeral home,
Sipping at my coffee, thinking I was all alone.
I never even heard the older gentleman walk in,
Until he stood beside me and said, "I am your Father's friend
Your Dad and I were very close, he called me Crazy Tom.
It was I, who introduced your Father to your Mom.
I left this town some years ago, when you were just a child.
So, you would not remember me," he said and then he smiled.
He said, "Your Father's sudden death, must come as quite a blow.
But, yesterday, he told me something, I think you should know.
Your Father said, he wished that you and he had stayed in touch.
He told me he was proud of you, and loved you very much.
He was sorry you both parted, and had gone your separate ways.
But, he knew . . . that you would love him, even to his dying day."
He put his arm around me, with a very gentle touch,
And said, "I know your Father and he loves you very much."
He smiled at me and said, "I must be off to see another.
Oh, by the way, would you say Hi next time you see your Mother?"
As he walked out, I sat and wondered, why he left so soon?
Why did not he, go see my Mother, in the parlor room?
He and Dad, talked yesterday that was a dumb mistake!
Because, this is the second day, of my Fathers wake.
I went back to the parlor and I sat down by my Mom.
I told her I was talking in the lounge with Crazy Tom.
She looked at me and suddenly, her eyes were filled with tears,
"He was your Father's closest friend, but he has been dead for years."

I Am Blessed Indeed

Today upon a bus, I saw a lovely girl, I envied her:
She seemed so happy. And I wish I were as fair.
And then, suddenly, she rose to leave, and I saw her hobble
down the aisle,
She had one leg and wore a crutch,
But as she passed, a smile.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two legs,
I am blessed indeed. The world is mine!

Later, walking down the street,
I saw a man with eyes of blue.
But he just stood and watched the others play.
So, I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join the others, sir?"
But he looked ahead without a word.
And then I knew he could not hear.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two ears,
I am blessed indeed. The world is mine!

And later, I stopped to buy some sweets,
The lad who sold them had such charm,
I talked with him. If I were late, it would do no harm.
But as I turned to go, he said to me,
"I thank you sir. You've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you."
"You see," he said, "I am blind."
Oh God forgive me when I whine, I have two eyes,
I am blessed indeed. The world is mine!

With legs to take me where I want to go,
With ears to hear the things I need to know,
With eyes to watch that radiant sunset glow.
Oh God, forgive me when I whine,
I am blessed indeed! The world is mine!

Psalm 40:1 (niv) says,

"I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry."

It's the "waiting patiently" part that is hard to deal with.
Some of us tend to run ahead of God when we don't get an immediate answer. Sometimes we try to force God's hand by taking our own
premature action.
A few verses down the page we read this,
"He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God."
Patience pays off.
There is "joy in the morning" for those with the patience to
wait for God's timing.

Native American - Navajo

In the house made of dawn.
In the story made of dawn.
On the trail of dawn.
O, Talking God.
His feet, my feet, restore.
His limbs, my limbs, restore.
His body, my body, restore.
His voice, my voice, restore.
His plumes, my plumes, restore.
With beauty before Him, with beauty before me.
With beauty behind Him, with beauty behind me.
With beauty above Him, with beauty above me.
With beauty below Him, with beauty below me.
With beauty around Him, with beauty around me.
With pollen beautiful in His voice,
with pollen beautiful in my voice.
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.
In the house of evening light.
From the story made of evening light.
On the trail of evening light.
Amen

Daughter Of The Wind

Why have I always been a daughter of the wind?
It has such strength.
It is treacherous and holds such fury.
Yet, it has the most gentle, tender touch.
When I watch the wind,
Hear the wind or feel its soft and gentle caress,
I suddenly become lost in thought and wild wanderings.
Dear wind, where are you going?
What have you done today?
What are you going to do tomorrow?
You always seem to carry me to another plain;
A place where dreamers dwell.
Somewhere your secrets are never told.
As a daughter of the wind, I will never grow old.

Storms Of Life

Have you ever noticed how quiet and gentle it becomes after a storm?
Sometimes it is so hard to believe that Mother Nature could have such a scorn.
Hours later, the sunshine is warming the morning air.
Such beauty and peace you soon forget the storm was ever there.
The animal kingdom seems to come alive and the birds are calling to each other high up inside the trees.
A melting icicle from my roof edge glistens and the drippings seem to talk to me.
It's telling me soon this hard winter's day will come to an end. And all shall know by the signs, it's just a matter of days that a new season will begin.
We shall see a time of rebirth, of warmth, all will be fresh and alive again.
Life itself is filled with many storms as we journey on life's way.
The storms are not measured by how many times we fall down or about a debt we paid.
It is measured by how many times we get up and pray for a better day.
In our journey from, the cradle to the grave, we are measured by what we gave and not what we saved.
So confront all storms with a positive attitude.
You are only a loser when you quit trying.
This is only for you to choose.
And from each storm, regain your strength and use it as wisdom forever to stay.
Perhaps the Great Spirit just planned the storms to turn out this way.
For after each storm, there is always a brighter day.

Trust in the Great Spirit and He shall guide you upon your
life's way.

The Law Of Life

Whatever you give away today or think or say or do
will multiply about tenfold and then return to you.
It may not come immediately nor from the obvious source,
but the Law applies unfailingly through some invisible force.
Whatever you feel about another, be it love or hate or passion,
will surely bounce right back to you in some clear or secret fashion.
If you speak about some person, a word of praise of two,
soon tons of other people will speak kind words to you.
Our thoughts are broadcasts of the soul, not secrets of the brain.
Kind ones bring us happiness, petty ones, untold pain.
Giving works as surely as reflections in a mirror.
If hate you send, hate you'll get back, but loving brings love nearer.
Remember, as you start this day, and duty crowds your mind,
that kindness comes so quickly back, to those who first are kind!
Let that thought and this one direct you through each day....
The only things we ever keep are the things we give away!
"The miracle is not to walk on water.
The miracle is to walk on the green earth in the present moment, to appreciate the peace and beauty that are available now....
It is not a matter of just faith; it is a matter of practice too."

Waiting On The Lord

When prayers aren't answered, quickly or right away,
Just ask the Lord, to reveal to you, the reason for His delay.
If the answer for that request just seems to take too long,
Just lift up your hands and praise Him, with a glorious new song.
Just wait on the Lord, and try to be still,
'Cause your request may not be in God's will,
If that is the case, just praise Him again,
He won't steer you wrong 'cause he's your friend.
Maybe you'll learn patience, a little trust too.
Or maybe your motives you'll need to review.
Ask Him for an answer, the way he sees fit.
But don't lose hope and don't you quit.
The answer can be revealed in a miraculous way
So, be prepared to listen to what He has to say!
The answer will bring Him honor and glory,
And then you'll be able to tell your story.
Minister to those who did lose hope,
Who were looking for answers on how to cope!

"Everything really is equal. The Creator
doesn't look at me any better than He
looks at the trees. We're all the same."
-Janice Sundown Hattet, SENECA

Sometimes humans think we are the center of
the Universe. Sometimes we think we are above
or better than other people or things. The
Great Spirit made a set of Laws and Principles
by which all things should live. Everybody and
everything lives by the same Laws. We are all
made of atoms just like the trees. The life
force in the middle of the atom is the life
force of the Great Mystery. It is the same for
everything. We are all equal in the eyes of the
Creator.

Great Spirit,
today, I will
respect your
handiwork.

I have just three things to teach:
simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in action and in thoughts, you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate towards yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.

Stepping Stones to God

An aching heart is but a steppingstone
To greater joy than you've ever known,
For things that cause the heart to ache
Until you think that it must break,
Become the strength by which we climb
To higher heights that are sublime,
And feel the radiance of God's smiles
When we have soared above life's trials.
So when you're overwhelmed with fears
And all your hopes are drenched in tears,
Think not that life has been unfair
And given you too much to bear.
For God has chosen you because,
With all your weaknesses and flaws,
He feels that you are worthy of
The greatness of His wondrous love.
So welcome every stumbling block
And every thorn and jagged rock;
For each one is a steppingstone
To God, who wants you for His own.
For discipline in daily duty
Will shape your life for deeper beauty;
And as you grow in strength and grace,
The clearer you can see God's face;
And on the steppingstones of strife,
You reach at last eternal life.
