God is the final authority here, and I thank Him for you,
and allowing me to share with you in this way.
Lord, please continue to use me to do Thy Will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak and unsaved.
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.
May the Holy Spirit always continue to guide me.
I ask for your continued prayers, and please pray for each other

I'd Pick More Daisies

If I could live my life again,
I'd be a little lazy,
I'd stop this rushing to and fro
And stop to pick more daisies.

Through all the lovely summer months,
Though days be clear or hazy,
No more to fret over tasks undone,
I'd stop to pick a daisy.

Not so important what I did,
This fact time now discloses,
While running through
Life's garden green,
I'd stop to smell the roses,

If I could hold my little ones,
The children in my care,
I'd scold them less and love them more
With so much love to share.

If I could pass this way again,
Though folks might think I'm crazy,
I'd work and worry less, but I'd
Take time to pick a daisy.

The rush of life has passed me by,
Now I have leisure hours.
But time has taken such a toll.
It's too late to pick the flowers

Let me not live a life that's free from
"the things" that draw me close to Thee
For how can I ever hope to heal the wounds of others I do not feel
If my eyes are dry and I never weep, how do I know when the hurt is deep
If my heart is cold and it never bleeds, how can I tell what my brother needs
For when my ears are deaf to the beggar's plea,
And we close our eyes and refuse to see
And we steel our hearts and harden our mind,
And we count it a weakness whenever we're kind,
We are no longer following the Father's way
Or seeking His guidance from day to day
For, without "crosses to carry" and "burdens to bear,"
We dance through a life that is frothy and fair,
And "chasing the rainbow" we have no desire
For "roads that are rough" and "realms that are higher"
So spare me no heartache or sorrow, dear Lord,
For the heart that is hurt, reaps the richest reward,
And God enters the heart that is broken with sorrow
As He opens the door to a brighter tomorrow
For only through tears can we recognize the
suffering that lies in another's eyes.

May the Lord of light let the glow in your eye twinkle in the day
and burn at night so that others might see your
"window to the soul"
shine as a glowing coal and guide them in their journey into night.

May His gentle rain refresh both body and soul,
give you an angel's hand to hold so that
when begins the mighty wind, thunder's booming din,
you will hold fast to your faith and
know His blessed grace will keep you free from fear and sin.

May the path He planned, lead you to a beauteous land,
a quiet haven beside a stream where you may dream and rest awhile
to reflect on God's creations....and smile -
for He led you to a space, in this time and place,
and created a sunset your heart to beguile.

May your heart not be troubled,
and may God's blessings given freely,
pass from you daily to a stranger or a friend,
so that kindness never ends and you realize your worth
since the day of your birth -

Touch a stranger's hand and heart...for you play a part, in
this vast universe of God whereupon His earth you trod.
Reach for the light, that shines so very bright to enable you to attain,
our God on Heaven's throne where you'll never be alone,
He'll greet you with "my child, welcome home."

The Stepping Stone

The Lord came to me like a dream one day
and asked why do you sorrow
I answered, Lord my life is so full of pain
I can't face one more tomorrow
The Lord sat down beside me and gently took my hand
He said, Let me explain to you and then you'll understand
Each sorrow is a stepping stone you must surmount each day
And every stepping stone you climb is a sorrow that's passed away
The road of life is a mountainside with crevices in which to be caught
But as you struggle on your way, I, the Rock, will lend support
Every stepping stone you climb makes the spirit and heart grow strong
Exercising character and faith this road seems painful and long
The way is paved with stepping stones to uplift your heart and soul
Though difficult they aid your way to a City paved with gold
I know that you are tired for I too have walked this way
My sorrows did they multiply but I cleared many stones away
I left my rock to lift you up, I left behind my story
To give you strength to make your climb to that special place in glory
And never fear, the Rock is here you'll never climb this mountain alone
Surmount life's sorrows, continue on for they are but stepping stones

I Walk By Faith

I walk by faith
For I am too weak to run
And I must rest often
Because I grow weary.
But, Lord
It amazes me
How You lead
And direct this dance of days.
At first
When I could only lie down in discouragement
You lifted me
To my hands and knees
And showed me I could crawl.
Then
When I had grown
In strength

Skill
And confidence
You raised me to my feet
And by Your grace
Taught me how to stand.
And now
I await Your power
Your providence
To call me to hasten my steps
That I may race ahead unafraid
And one day
Take the leap
And fly.

Well, here's another of my fictitious prophetic visions. Enjoy.

A Lesson in Patience

I saw in a dream
A man lying in anguish at night
As he longed for the glow of morning's freshness.
He pleaded
Fought
Impatiently trying to make the sun appear.
Finally
Exhausted
He fell asleep
And
At once
I was taken ahead in time
To the orange and yellow
Of dawn's delight
As the man
Awoke
Refreshed.
Then the one showing me these things
Asked me if I understood their meaning.
"No."
I replied.
"My child"
The Angel answered
"When you are impatient
There is nothing you can do
To change the course of reality
And it will appear
As if time moves with slowest torture.
But when you rest
And trust with contented expectancy
It will suddenly seem
As though all your troubles disappear
And you awaken
To fulfillment."

What Is Hope

Hope is knowing that a positive outcome awaits.
Hope is not only expecting a dream to come true,
but also having a deep
assurance that it's within your reach.
Hope is saying you can.
Hope is knowing that you can improve and
that you always get better with practice.
Hope is knowing that you can achieve your goals through
hard work and persistence.
Hope is looking to the future with joy and having an expectation
of better things to come.
Hope is the knowledge that life is everlasting,
and that miracles happen every day.
Hope is something that never abandons you.
Even when your life is filled with sadness and disappointment,
a spark remains inside to help you get through the rough times.
Hope is one of God's greatest gifts to you,
because it's the magic that inspires you
to keep trying, learning, loving, and living.

but only a few will catch your heart ...

The Mighty Hand Of God

Through His power all things were made ~
things in Heaven and on the
earth, things seen and unseen.
Colossians 1:16
With one Divine decision, history began.
Existence became measurable.
Because God spoke, out of nothing came light.
Out of this light came day.
Then in obedience to His command came the sky and earth.
And on this earth we call home His mighty hand went to work.
Canyons were carved deep into the face of the earth,
oceans were dug, mountains erupted out of flat land,
stars were flung into the heavens, a new universe sparkled.
Simply because Almighty God spoke and willed it so!
All we must do is look at the Grand Canyon's splendor,
touch the gentle fragrant petals of a flower,
and we see His loving delicate work.
We but have to listen to thunder and see the storm to
stand in awe of His mighty power!
As you travel through each day you will encounter God's creation.
As you see the beauty around you, allow each detail to remind
you to bow before Him, lift up your hands in praise. We should daily express our appreciation for God's creations around us. As parents we should encourage our children to see the beauty of His love.

No Matter What Happens

I remember a time when each day was long,
When the world was a playground and my life a song,
And I fluttered through years with barely a care,
Ignoring the future and what waited there.

School was intriguing and filled with delights.
I played away daytimes and dreamed away nights.
My parents assured me I had nothing to fear,
And that no matter what happened, they'd always be there.
Little I knew of a world outside home,
Where tragedy, sorrow and murder could roam.

All I saw were blue skies, rainbows and stars.
I looked past destruction of buildings and cars.
As a child, my biggest concern was just me;
I had to be happy, I had to be free.
And if I was content, I would not shed a tear,
And no matter what happened, I still would be here.

But as I grow up, darkness starts to set in;
My bright world has turned into concrete and tin.
I now see the violence I looked past before;
My friends start to die and my heart hits the floor.
Deadly diseases claim people I love,
There are landfills below me, pollution above.

I often think back to when life was a game.
But no matter what happens, it can't be the same.
There are days when I just want to break down and howl,
To give up completely, to throw in the towel,
But I hold my head high and I push my way through.
I have too much to give and so much to do.

And I make a vow that, though it'll be hard,
I'll go on with a smile and play every card.
I'll give all I can, help others and love.
No matter what happens, life will bloom again,

And the strength I don't have will come from above.
So come, take my hand, and through darkness we will sail
If we all join together, we never can fail.
We'll remember to care, remember to feel,
And no matter what happens, our world we will heal.

What Will You Be

As I gazed up at the mountains, I was awed by their majesty;
I bowed my head and asked myself, "Why should He care for me?
I am not great like the mountains that tower so high above,
What is there about me that God can find to love?"

"Father, I am not strong like the wind that makes
Your tall trees sway, I cannot sing sweetly like Your birds;
will You love me anyway?
But most of all, I am simply me, and often have cause to fear,
In spite of all my weaknesses, do You promise to be near?"

With eyes closed tight against my tears,
I wished He could hear me pray.
Then I felt His Spirit tell me,
"Child, look up, I have something to say.
"You are simply you, the spirit I love, a part of My great plan.
I put you here to learn of life and to return to Me again."

"You are more beautiful to Me than the loveliest mountain I made,
And your strength exceeds that of the wind's, so do not be afraid.
I love you not for what you are, but for what I know you will be.
I am always beside you watching you grow,
you are very special to Me.

A smile touched my lips - I knew it was true,
My Father had always been there giving me comfort and
blessings and love and my own special talents to share.
So I do my best to make Him proud. I am not afraid, for you see,
He loves me not for what I am, but for what He knows I will be.

Together, they sat in the evening sun,
Reflecting events of the day just done;
Silvery hair on each of their heads,
Awesome respect in the prayers that they said.
Chickens now roosting, cattle all fed ...
She set the start of the next morning's bread,
Everything left to their keeping secure.
They trusted God for the strength to endure.
Now, they weren't embarrassed to speak of their faith
And they didn't forsake when God said to wait.
Their faith was so simple, just 'trust and obey'
And it took them to Heaven, one beautiful day.
Out in the field, I passed by their chairs;
Warped and old ...beyond repair,
Washed by the elements, baked by the sun,
Still side by side ...as if they were one.

Born again

We dare to dream like magi's,
Contriving to better the past,
We dance around reality,
Hoping our wishes will last,
We search our lives for rainbows,
To capture the treasure of gold,
We fly with the power of angels,
Awaiting our fate to unfold,
But we must embrace the future,
With knowledge gleaned long ago,
That all things come to pass,
For our Lord has made it so,
Now I walk with my destiny,
Carrying it with honor and pride,
For God has sent down an angel,
To accompany me by my side,
I now hear more than listen
And look better with inner sight,
For my Father has sent an angel,
And I have seen the light.

When I Need To "Fall Apart"

We don't always have to be strong to be strong.
Sometimes our strength is expressed in being vulnerable.
Sometimes we need to fall apart to regroup and stay on track.

We all have days when we cannot push any harder, cannot hold
back self-doubt, cannot stop focusing on fear, cannot be strong.
There are days when we cannot focus on being responsible.
Occasionally, we don't want to get out of our pajamas.
Sometimes we cry in front of people.
We expose our tiredness, irritability, or anger.
Those days are okay. They are just okay.

Part of taking care of ourselves means we give ourselves
permission to "fall apart" when we need to.
We do not need to be perpetual towers of strength.
We ARE strong. We have proven that.

Our strength will continue if we allow ourselves
the courage to feel scared, weak, and vulnerable
when we need to experience those feelings.

Today, help me to know that is it okay to allow myself to be human.
Help me not to feel guilty or punish myself when I need to "fall apart."

************************

Dear Father, increase in us the hunger to pour our hearts out to You. Lord help us to focus on prayer daily, hourly, and every minute of our lives. Lord we love You and praise You. Thank You for being a loving God that is accessible to us 24 hours a day, anytime, anyplace. YOU are an awesome God!
In Jesus' precious name we pray, Amen.

A Place of Quiet Retreat

Do you need a quite moment with God?
Do you need rest for your soul?
Are you weary my friend?
Does the road just seem so long?
God is waiting with open arms.
He will hold you and let you rest.
He will never give you more than you can handle.
God is with you each step you take.
The Lord hears good people when they cry out to him,
And he saves them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close at hand to the broken hearted,
And he saves those whose spirits have been crushed.
Psalm 34: 17, 18

You're my place of quiet retreat:
I wait for your Word to renew me....
I lovingly embrace everything you say.
Psalm 119: 114,119

Quiet down before God,
Be prayerful before him..
Wait passionately for GOD,
Don't leave the path.
He'll give you your place in the sun...
Psalm 37: 7,34

His huge outstretched arms protect you-----
Under them you're perfectly safe;
His arms fend off all harm....
You'll stand untouched, watch it all
From a distance.....
Yes, because GOD is your refuge,
The High God your very own home,
Evil can't get close to you, harm can't get through the door.
He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go.
If you stumble, they'll catch you;
Their job is to keep you from falling.
Psalm 91:4-12

************************

Lord, in the quietness reach out and hold me.
Draw me gently into Your peace.
And in the loving silence at Your heart, attune my ears
to hear the sounds I never listen to.

The harmony that lies in You,
the discords in the world You've put me in.
The laughter and the tears in other people's lives.

Make me more sensitive to others' needs.
Sometimes, I hear the words that others speak,
but fail to grasp their meaning.
Help me to hear the worry hidden in a throwaway remark,
the fear wrapped in a joke,
the insecurity behind unbending dogmatism.
Let me identify the cry for help so casually expressed.

Help me to listen more, and think,
and think before I speak, and then to think again.

And, Lord, teach me to hear sincerity in those who see
and say things in a different way.
Give me the grace not to condemn or criticize,
but first to search for common ground, and
grasp the things that draw us all together,
not concentrate on what holds us apart.
Help me to take the richness of another's thought,
and hold it, precious as my own.

Above all, may I hear the gentle echoes of Your love,
reflected all around me.
Give me the joy of listening to Your voice,
the quiet rustle as Your arms enfold me.

Timmy was a little five year old boy that his Mom loved very much and,
being a worrier, she was concerned about him walking to school
when he started Kindergarten.
She walked him to school the first couple of days but when he came
home one day, he told his mother that he did not want her walking him
to school everyday. He wanted to be like the big boys.
He protested loudly, so she had an idea of how to handle it.
She asked a neighbor, Mrs. Goodnest, if she would surreptitiously follow her
son to school, at a distance behind him that he would not likely notice,
but close enough to keep a watch on him.
Mrs. Goodnest said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway,
it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well so she agreed.
The next school day, Mrs. Goodnest and her little girl, Marcy, set out
following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor boy
he knew. She did this for the whole week.
As the boys walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, the little friend
of Timmy noticed that this same lady was following them as she seemed to
do every day all week. Finally, he said to Timmy,
Have you noticed that lady following us all week? Do you know her?
Timmy nonchalantly replied, Yea, I know who she is.
The little friend said, Well who is she?
That's just Shirley Goodnest, Timmy said.
Shirley Goodnest? Who the heck is she and why is she following us?
Well, Timmy explained, every night my Mom makes me say the
23rd Psalm with my prayers 'cuz she worries about me so much.
And in it, the prayer Psalm says, Shirley Goodnest and Marcy
shall follow me all the days of my life, so I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Well, this week I have a poem I wrote on how everything
from God is by Grace. Enjoy.

By Grace

By grace are we saved through faith
And that
Not of ourselves
For all we have
Is a gift of God
For undeserving sinners
Guilty of the blood of Heaven's Lamb.
By grace we obey through faith
By beholding His glory
And being changed into His Likeness
For faith
Without works
Is dead.
By grace we pray through faith
As the Holy One
Blessed be He
Calls to us
And then we answer
Drawn to His Presence
His stillness
And He
comes to dwell within us
And all we do
Is consent by His prompting.
By grace are we healed through faith
As body
Spirit
Attitude
And passion
Are mended by our Lord
Yeshua
By whose stripes
We are made
Whole.
By grace
Are we saved
Through faith.

Prayer is a cry from the bare spot in our lives, from the empty space, from the part of us that is missing. It is the wounded part seeking to be healed, the missing part seeking to be found, the now-dry clay of the sculpture seeking the hands that first touched it, first caressed it, first loved it.

A life watered by the tears of tragedy and suffering
often becomes the most fertile soil for spiritual growth

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives.
If God allowed us to go through our lives without
any obstacles, it would cripple us.
We would not be as strong as we could have been.
We could never fly!

I asked for Strength And God gave me Difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for Wisdom And God gave me Problems to solve.
I asked for Prosperity And God gave me Brains and Brawn to work.
I asked for Courage And God gave me Danger to overcome.
I asked for Love and God gave me Troubled people to help.
I asked for Favors And God gave me Opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted...I received everything I needed.

May God bless you with unspeakable joy, not only in
the world to come, but in this world also.
May your path be bright and full of light everywhere you go.
May God tell darkness that it must flee at your command.
And, I pray your feet will never stumble out of God's plan.
May the desires of your heart come true.
And may you experience Peace in everything you do.
May Goodness, Kindness and Mercy come your way.
And, may you gain Wisdom and grow in the Lord every day.

Strength Through Prayer

The day had brought me heartache;
Turning the skies to darkest gray.
With heavy heart I drew aside
And humbly knelt to pray.

I told God that my burden
Was more than I could bear -
Then I heard Him gently say,
"I'll strengthen you through prayer."

With anxious heart I still prayed on,
"Lord, take this cup from me."
Again I heard His voice so kind,
"My child, draw near to Me."

There sweetly flowed an inner peace
That overcame despair;
In His kind and loving way
God strengthened me through prayer.

A Prayer For Peace

Our Father, up in heaven, hear this fervent prayer
May the people of all nations be united in Thy care.
For earth's peace and man's salvation can come only by Thy grace
And not through bombs and missiles and our quest for outer space.

For until all men recognize that "The Battle is the Lord's"
And peace on earth cannot be won with strategy and swords.
We will go on vainly fighting, as we have in ages past
Finding only empty victories and a peace that cannot last.

But we've grown so rich and mighty and so arrogantly strong,
We no longer ask in humbleness "God, show us where we're wrong"
We have come to trust completely in the power of man-made things,
Unmindful of God's mighty power and that He Is "King of Kings"

We have turned our eyes away from Him to go our selfish way,
And money, power and pleasure are the gods we serve today.
And the good green earth God gave us to peacefully enjoy,
Through greed and fear and hatred we are seeking to destroy.

Oh, Father, up in heaven, stir and wake our sleeping souls,
Renew our faith and lift us up and give us higher goals.
And grant us heavenly guidance as war threatens us again
For, more than guided missiles, all the world needs guided men.

Look down upon this present and see our need in Thee.
For in this day of unrest, with danger all around,
We need Thy hand to lead us to higher, safer ground.

We need Thy help and counsel to make us more aware
That our safety and security lie solely in Thy care.
And as we fight for freedom make our way and purpose clear
And in our hours of danger may we feel Thy Presence near.

Morning Prayer

Another day is dawning, another day's begun another day to turn
to God and pray, "Thy will be done"
A day to slay doubt's dragon, to know within your soul,
That as you give yourself to Him, He'll bless and make you whole.
A day to live with purpose, a day to show you care
When others turn to you distraught, confused or in despair
A day to share God's blessings in quiet countless ways
That touch the heart with hope and joy and brighten cloudy days
A day for sweet rejoicing, for gratitude and praise
Because His love enfolds you, both now, and all your days.
The morning light is breaking, Lord. Another day is here.
Life's problems must again be met with heart and vision clear.
Strength for today I ask, Dear Lord, strength only for today
Renew my faith, my hope revive, illuminate my skies of gray.
For yesterday is past, Dear Lord, tomorrow I may never see,
Today alone lies in my grasp, to use or lose for eternity.
Help me to lend a helping hand, to dry the fallen tears,
To give to all whose life has touched mine, some comfort or good cheer.
Help me to sink my poor weak self, with its longings, hopes, and fears,
In service to my fellowman, battling thru this vale of tears.
Just for today, day by day, courage and strength I pray,
Garnering the good, forgiving the wrong, 'til I've lived my last today.
I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming
conviction that . . . I had nowhere else to go.

Do you try hard to be good, only to fail?
You can't live the Christian life if you don't have life . . .
the Lord Jesus . . . within you.
Ask Him to save you now.

Romans 8:2 "for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus
has made me free from the law of sin and death."

Receive Christ today!

Wings

All I ever wanted was to keep you
Nestled safely under my wing
Until yours were strong enough
To fly the high places
Find open spaces
And build your own home.

All I ever needed was to keep my
Eye on you
Until you could see farther
To see the high places
Watch open spaces
And make them your own.

All I ever wished for
Was to give you strong wings
To be there when you tested them
Against the windy places

And newfound spaces
Of shattered dreams gone.

All I ever hoped for
Was to be there if you fall.
Tell you that you won't always be small
And truly high places
Await he who flies again.

Now I must find the faith
That you are soaring in places
New spaces I simply cannot see.
That someone new watches over you
Helping you watch over me
Until I find my way home.

Pray

In the face of instability,
In the light of world dismay;
From the youngest to the oldest,
This is the time to pray.

A time to call upon our God,
For His wisdom and His grace;
To ask for strength and endurance,
A time to seek His face.

A time to call on angels,
To protect those called to serve;
A time to place our faith in Him,
And pray without reserve.

A time to be united,
For divided, we shall fall;
We are a country built on faith,
So hasten to His call.

He speaks to us, "Be not afraid,"
He says, "Be not dismayed;"
From the youngest to the oldest,
This is the time to pray.

My grace is sufficient for you.
Accept my forgiveness. When I forgive, I choose to forget.
Why should you keep recalling what I have forgotten?
Stop living with feelings of guilt. I have great things in store for you.

Receiving forgiveness will enable you to offer yourself as a channel
of my forgiving love to flow into the lives of others.
In so doing, you will live a life of joy and victory.

Perfect Peace

O Lord, how happy we could be,
If we would put full trust in Thee -
If we from foolish fears would rest
And be assured that Thou above,
In perfect wisdom, grace, and love,
Art working for our best.

Lord, make these faithless hearts of ours
Good lessons learn from fields of flowers;
First, let our worries cease;
Then, like the flowers, let us be still
And leave all things to Thy good will
And so find perfect peace.

Things to Forget

Forget each kindness that you do, as soon as you have done it.
Forget the praise that falls to you, the moment you have won it.

Forget the slander that you hear, before you can repeat it.
Forget each slight, each spite, each sneer, whenever you may meet it.

Remember every promise made, and keep it to the letter.
Remember those who lend you aid, and be a grateful debtor.

Remember all the happiness, that comes your way in living.
Forget each worry and distress, be hopeful and forgiving.

Remember good, remember truth, remember Heaven is above you.
And you will find, through age and youth, that many will come
to love you.

Is it true if we get past this one hard place, all our problems will be solved?
But each day has its share of such places--if not in our lives, then in the
lives of those we care so much about. We are so interchangeably connected that whatever
touches one of us touches us all. One strong effort, one day at a time,
one step, one question, Are we reliable? Or do we get other people to cover our tracks so that
we can go on doing what we want to do? When a hard spot, a habit, an addiction dogs our
tracks, it is because we have not made up our minds to turn around and face it.
Trying to make it acceptable only robs us of
what we need most of all--to love ourselves and to respect ourselves. But we cannot
do it alone. Only the Great Holy Spirit, and He alone, can give us the power.
The Great Spirit does right. He knows what is best for His children.

Sometimes what we are really looking for is right under
our noses. Today, I know that when I seek something out of
desperation, I have no idea what I really am looking for.
Instead of trying to force things, I need to be receptive and wait
for the right time. I will be patient for what I want to come to me.

God made us plain and simple, but we have made ourselves
very complicated..........Ecclesiastes 7:29

You teach us wisdom
Man of many years
You have experienced them
You speak as you tear
You have seen the beginning and the end
The nation you cherished
Will it happen again
You pray for us
The younger generation
Will we follow you
Without hesitation
When you come for us in our last days
I see Jesus in you
Will you show us the way?

Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all
And sweetest in the gale is heard
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm

Matin

How quiet was my cathedral
On a sun-struck Easter morn
When I slipped into the forest
At the breaking of the dawn.

How still the woodland creatures:
They must have been at  prayer!
The rustle of an oak leaf
As it drifted through the air

Was, indeed, the only sound
That broke my meditation
While I sat in silent reverence
Of the Father of creation.

I was wafted to the heavens
With an inward thrill of awe,
Looked with muted adoration
On the perfection that I saw.

Suddenly the prayers were over.
The hemlock sighed, "Amen,"
And the glory of an anthem
Swelled above the cloistered glen.

The birds joined in the chorus,
Loud the Alleluias rang
As the woodland world rejoiced
And their Maker's praises sang.

Lowly creatures sang the paean
"Christ, the Savior, risen Lord!"
Then a lowly, sinful human
Echoed humbly with accord.

When Life

I wanted to find some words on a card.
That would help to get thru it when life gets so hard.
It seems you can't bear it - perhaps can't go on -
When deep in the heart there's no trace of a song.

Some words that would comfort -
when late in the night the trials return and -
you're too tired to fight.
Or the tears flow so often it seems you'll run dry.
And life gets so tough that you just want to die -
Or at least go and hide - where you're safe from all pain.
Someplace you can rest 'til you find joy again.

What are the words you so need to hear -
That will help and will heal and remove all the fear -
That builds up inside 'til you think you'll explode -
What are the words that will lighten the load?

If only I knew the right words to say.
To encourage and Bless you or comfort some way.
I know not the words but this I can do.
I shall offer up Prayers to the Creator for you.
And I will always be here for you.

Okay, here's an idea to maybe ponder.
Someone who goes through a great painful trauma must
have time to experience his/her feelings and
work through the trauma, venting the emotions to find healing.
Otherwise the person will suffer from all kinds of
psychological problems.
Well, what if the same were true for joy?
It seems that we need to work through the miracles in our lives, too,
not in a painful way, but in a thankful way.
To really think about the awesomeness of
what God did for us.
This way we can really adjust to it and enjoy it,
and as we let God's power, really sink in, we will
be able to trust Him to do more for us,
as we are more fully realizing His love and strength.
I've been finding this to be very true for me.
It's easy to let joy be pushed aside because I'm too busy
to think about miracles in my life, and yet every feeling
like that needs to be vented just like the sad feelings.
I need to take time for Thanksgiving.
Enjoy this poem I wrote on this.
Adjusting
It takes time
For eyes hid in darkness
To adjust to the blinding beauty of day.
It takes a moment
For ears held long in silence
To get used to the deafening deepness of sound.
And yet for all
Who take the time to experience the glory
There flows a comfort
And pressing passion
To let the spirit ever explore.
And so, dear God
As I stand
Surprised by the sudden shock
Of yet another miracle
I know
That it may take a while
To face and work through
This great and joyous trauma
Of blessing.
But if You go with me
And release my awestruck heart
I'll always ponder and praise You
And You
Who makes me whole in my pain
Will also
Make me whole in my delight.
And as I grow
More accustomed to contentment
Your power and genius before my gaze
Will become more real
More believable
And soon
I will be ready
To reach with faith
For more.

"A Glimpse At Life"

Someone once said, "Don't cry because it's over;
smile because it happened."

How many tears have been shed because a love was lost?
How many have cried because a visit ended.
A special event was over and it brought tears at its completion.
Endings do seem to bring sadness and tears.
In death we grieve instead of celebrating the life we shared.
Endings are seen as finalities.
To finish is to bring to a conclusion.
We grieve for what was and is no more.
A conclusion is to terminate as if it had never been
in the eyes of many.
Why is it people don't smile, laugh or rejoice
at what they once had or enjoyed.

I have often told my family I want a party held
when my time on earth ends.
Being a Christian I believe in eternal life and
it will truly be a time to celebrate.
I will no longer be confined to a wheelchair,
I will be able to walk streets of gold.
Remember the good times and laugh at the fun we shared.

Someone also said, "Nothing ever stays the same,
but be glad for what you had."

We often spend so much time in grieving endings that
we forget the joy we had in beginnings,
and the ecstasy before conclusions.
For some people it matters not, all the joys they've had,
or all the excitement they have experienced.
When the curtain is drawn and the lights turned out,
all they see are losses.
They fail to see that eternity lives on,
ever growing, ever knowing, ever enjoying.
To venture forth is to grow; to experience is to know.
Take with you the joys, leave the sadness behind;
life is too short to dwell on losses.
If you hold losses too tightly there is
no room to embrace tomorrow's happiness.

How sad that of the gifts one receives in a lifetime,
they should remember not the gifts but only the spoils.
Why is it easier for memories to linger on hurts someone
has done to you instead of on the helpfulness of others?

Instead of choosing to cry because 'things' in life are over,
and because nothing ever stays the same;
I ponder then, what a fulfilling life could be ours,
if we would only smile because life happened
and be thankful then for what we've had.

I think as the curtain of life begins its final call,
that I shall remember with bountiful thrills,
all that was spread before me on this
harvest table of my journey through life.
I shall not linger on what might have been or never was,
but rejoice in all that found its way into my soul.
There were no blunders, only training in progress;
there were no endings only new beginnings.
No hurt, only joy growing.
No pain, only compassionate exercises.
Loves lost were only passions steered towards
the 'real' thing.

Someone else said that Attitude is the only thing
you have control over.
In my approach to life I choose to move out and
onward, not backward in regret.
For what might have been,
never was and will be no more.
What is yet to be;
holds doors opening to the joy of everything.
There are always dreams to live,
endeavors to accomplish,
new people to met, knowledge to absorb,
joy to seize and happiness to embrace.

I choose to have crow's feet around my eyes,
instead of tears in my eyes.
I choose to laugh at my mistakes,
instead of dwelling on them.
I choose to embrace all that the future has waiting
for me instead of clinging to what I left behind.
I embrace change and the knowledge it brings.
I choose to be all that I can be instead of being a has-been.
I choose to ride my three wheel motorized scooter
into the future instead of laying flat of my back dreaming
of years before when I could walk.
The Greatest Joy in Life may be just waiting to happen;
I choose to search! Take my hand go with me!

You did not wait for me to draw near to You,
But You clothed Yourself with frail humanity.
You did not wait for me to cry out to You,
But You let me hear Your voice calling me.

And I'm forever grateful to You,
I'm forever grateful to the Cross.
I'm forever grateful to You
That you came to seek and save the lost.
