Animals Two

God is the final authority here, and I thank Him for you,
and allowing me to share with you in this way.
Lord, please continue to use me to do Thy Will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others.
Keep me strong that I may help the weak and unsaved.
Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others.
May the Holy Spirit always continue to guide me.
I ask for your continued prayers, and please pray for each other

Here, come sit beside us for awhile,
and let me tell you about this old friend of mine.
She might look tattered or maybe old
But I won't say goodbye until you've been told.
She had the brightest eyes I had ever seen,
And wore a beautiful fur coat that would outshine a queen.
She was never prissy but walked with an air ......
And oh so polite, you could take her most anywhere.
She could run like the wind and could catch anything she chased
But she protected and sat with me when I had problems to face.
You could not find a friend nearly so dear.
Because no matter the trouble she always stayed near...
She has never asked for much from me;
Just to love and respect her, and I think you'll agree,
To give her a good meal plus a nice warm bed is not much to ask;
When she has given me all her love and to her this was no task.
Now I understand you have a schedule to keep.
But I have a small favor before she nods off to sleep.
Please fold your wings around her and let her feel young
while in no pain;
Dear Guardian Angel of Pets, please keep her safe and happy
until I see her again.

The House of 1000 Mirrors"

Long ago in a small, far away village, there was place
known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little
dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he
arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway
of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears
lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To
his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other
happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as
his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000
great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the
House, he thought to himself, "This is a wonderful place.
I will come back and visit it often."

In this same village, another little dog, who was not
quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the
house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head
low as he looked into the door. When he saw the 1000
unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled
at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs
growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself,
"That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again."

All the faces in the world are mirrors.
What kind of reflections do you see in the faces
of the people you meet?
What reflection do others see when they look at you?

They will not go quietly, the dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place the food dish used to be,
And sometimes, coming home at night we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill.
That one place in our hearts belongs to them,
and always will.

Believe.................

That you need to make time for fun
that music soothes the soul
that money cannot buy happiness
that jokes are here to keep us sane
that true friends will last a lifetime
that enjoying what you do will help you enjoy life more
that parents are more important than you think
that you should shoot for the stars
that promises should be kept always
and ......that pets are great because they listen
and love us no matter what we look like

When That Time Comes
If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
Don't let your grief stay your hand,
For this day more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many years,
What is to come can hold no fear.

You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you'll see it is a kindness you do for me

Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Don't grieve it should be you
who this thing decides to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold tears.
Smile, for we walked together for awhile.

Sighs Of The Heart

She keeps repeating it over and over again.
We've been back to this shelter at least five times.
It has been weeks now since we started all of this,
the woman told the volunteer.

What is it she keeps asking for? she asked. Puppy size!
We have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.
I know. We have seen most of them, she said in frustration.
Just then the young child came walking in the office.

Well, did you find one?

No, not this time, she said with sadness in her voice.
Can we come back on the weekend?

The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed.
You never know when we will get more dogs.
Unfortunately, there's always a supply, the volunteer said.
The young child took her Mother by the hand and headed to the door.
Don't worry, I bet we'll find one this weekend, the child said.

Over the next few days both mom and dad had
long conversations with her.
They both felt she was being too particular.
It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,
Dad finally said in frustration.
We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size either,
mom added.

Sure enough they were the first ones in the shelter
on Saturday morning. By now the young child knew her way around,
so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs.
Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room
at the end of the first row of cages.
There was an observation window so you could see
the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted.
The young girl walked slowly from cage to cage,
kneeling periodically to take a closer look.
One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one.
One by one she said, Sorry, you're not the one.
It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup.
The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully
picked up the dog and held it closely.
This time she it took a little longer.
Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy!
He's the one! I know it! she screamed with joy.
Mom, startled by all the commotion, came running.
What? Are you sure? How do you know? she asked.

It's the puppy sighs!
Yes, it the same size as all the other puppies
you held the last few weeks, mom said.

No, not size, sighs.
When I held him in my arms he sighed, she said.
So?
Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is,
you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart.
The more you love, the bigger the sighs!

The two women looked at each other for a moment.
Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
As she stooped down to hug her child she did a little of both.

Mom every time you hold me I sigh.
When you and Daddy come home from work
and hug each other you both sigh.
I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed
when I held it in my arms, she said.
Then holding the puppy up close to her face she said,
Mom, he loves me. I heard the sighs of his heart.

Through Someone Else's Eyes

Yesterday a butterfly came floating gently through the sky.
He soared up through the atmosphere
then drifted close enough to hear.
I said, "I'd love to fly with you and sail around the way you do.
It looks like it would be such fun to fly up toward the summer sun.
But I have not your graceful charm.
I haven't wings, just these two arms.
I've been designed to walk around,
my human feet must touch the ground.
Then magically he spoke to me and told me what his wish would be.
He said,
"What I'd love most to do is walk upon God's Earth with you,
to squish it's mud between my toes or touch my finger to my nose.
I'd love just once to walk around with human feet
to touch the ground, but I have not two legs that swing,
I haven't arms, just these two wings."
And so we went our separate ways in wonder and surprise.
For we'd both seen God's precious gifts through someone else's eyes.

"The Raven"

And the wings of the raven spread for one last time,
as they lifted him from the summit of creation.
And his eyes took vision beyond what he had ever seen,
as he soared to a height, where never he had been.
Strained was his endurance as the power of flight
brought him closer to his destination....
And the air did not hesitate to bring feathers stability,
as this last flight would return home this lost soul.
And as I witnessed his beauty, I saw him glide
into the rays of the sun...where forever,
he disappeared from my life.

The Falcon And The Duck

The wintry winds had already begun to whistle
and the waves to rise when the Drake and his mate
gathered their half- grown brood together
on the shore of their far northern lake.

"Wife," said he,
"it is now time to take the children southward,
to the Warm Countries which they have never yet seen!"

Very early the next morning they set out on their long journey,
forming a great "V" against the sky in their flight.
The mother led her flock and the father brought up the rear,
keeping a sharp lookout for stragglers.

All day they flew high in the keen air,
over wide prairies and great forests of northern pine,
until toward evening they saw below them a chain of lakes,
glittering like a string of dark-blue stones.

Swinging round in a half circle,
they dropped lower and lower,
ready to alight and rest upon the smooth surface
of the nearest lake.
Suddenly their leader heard a whizzing sound
like that of a bullet as it cuts the air,
and she quickly gave the warning: "Honk! honk!
Danger, danger!" All descended in dizzy spirals,
but as the great Falcon swooped toward them
with upraised wing, the ducklings scattered
wildly hither and thither. The old Drake came last,
and it was he who was struck!

"Honk, honk!" cried all the Ducks in terror,
and for a minute the air was full of soft downy feathers
like flakes of snow. But the force of the blow was lost
upon the well-cushioned body of the Drake,
he soon got over his fright and went on his way
southward with his family, while the Falcon dropped heavily
to the water's edge with a broken wing.

There he stayed and hunted mice
as best he could from day to day,
sleeping at night in a hollow log to be out of the way
of the Fox and the Weasel.
All the wit he had was not too much whereby
to keep himself alive through the long, hard winter.

Toward spring, however, the Falcon's wing had healed
and he could fly a little, though feebly.
The sun rose higher and higher in the blue heavens,
and the Ducks began to return to their cool northern home.
Everyday a flock or two flew over the lake;
but the Falcon dared not charge upon the flocks,
much as he wished to do so.
He was weak with hunger,
and afraid to trust to the strength of the broken wing.

One fine day a chattering flock of Mallards
alighted quite near him, cooling their glossy breasts
upon the gently rippling wave. "Here, children,"
boasted an old Drake, "is the very spot where your father
was charged upon last autumn by a cruel Falcon!
I can tell you that it took all my skill and quickness
in dodging to save my life.
Best of all, our fierce enemy dropped to the ground
with a broken wing!
Doubtless he is long since dead of starvation, or else a Fox
or a Mink has made a meal of the wicked creature!"
By these words the Falcon knew his old enemy,
and his courage returned. "Nevertheless, I am still here!"
he exclaimed, and darted like a flash upon the unsuspecting
old Drake, who was resting and telling of his exploit
and narrow escape with the greatest pride and satisfaction.
"Honk! honk! " screamed all the Ducks,
and they scattered and whirled upward like the dead leaves
in autumn; but the Falcon with sure aim selected the old
Drake and gave swift chase. Round and round in
dizzy spirals they swung together,
till with a quick spurt the Falcon struck the shining,
outstretched neck of the other,
and snapped it with one powerful blow of his reunited wing.

Do not exult too soon; nor is it wise to tell of your brave deeds
within the hearing of your enemy.

Yellow Eyes

We've roamed the wild country
My beautiful yellow eyes,
Side by side we've hunted
Shadows dancing on northern skies.

There have been times of plenty
We were content and serene,
Peacefully sleeping
Dangers few and far between.

We've also known much hunger
Ribs protruding from each side,
Mournfully we howled
When our starving cubs had died.

And then there was our first winter
Romping thru the glistening snow,
Tasting each crystal snowflake
Falling gently to and fro.

Ah my dear, sweet yellow eyes
I've known no greater love,
Without you, I am nothing
Our wild souls are one.

And now you lay there dying
Steel jaws upon your frame,
Life's blood slowly seeping
I whimper your sweet name.

Helpless, I watch you struggle
Chest heaving with labored breath,
Steel jaws clenching tighter
Winds whisper the song of death.

The blood has now stopped flowing
I know the time is near,
And you will forever leave me
My love, my life, my dear.

And now my world is silent
Your struggles now have ceased,
I lay my head upon you
And know you are at peace.

Perhaps your soul has lifted
To skies where eagles soar,
And there you'll greet your brothers
To run with them forever more.

And someday I shall find you
In the Heaven's so far above,
And when our wild soul's unite
There'll be no greater love.

A Cat's Prayer

Although I am too proud to beg,
and may appear to be a very independent creature,
I ask for your loving care and attention.
I rely on you for my well being much more than you may realize.

This I promise you, my benefactor, that I will not be a burden on you
nor will I demand more of you than you care to give.

I will be a quiet peaceful island of serenity for you to gaze upon;
a soft soothing body to caress,
and I shall purr with pleasure to rest your weary ears.

Since I am a gourmet who appreciates different taste sensations,
I pray you will give me a variety of nutritious foods and fresh water daily.

You know dear friend, how I love to go.
Allow me, I pray, a warm sheltered place where
I can rest peacefully and feel secure.

If I am wounded in battle or suffering from disease,
please tend me gently,
and see that I am treated by loving and competent hands.

Please protect me from the inhuman humans
who would hurt and torture me fortheir own amusement.
I am accustomed to your gentle touch and
am not always suspicious nor swift enough
to avoid such malicious acts.

In my later years when my senses fail me
and my infirmities become to great to bear,
allow me the comfort and dignity that I desire for my closing days
and help me gently in my pain or passing.
Hear this prayer, my dear friend, my fate depends on you.

The Lonely Loner

Chased from the world I once shared with man
Now I must seek asylum wherever I can
Blamed for so many things I've never done
They point and say "there, he's the one".
Once like the buffalo my numbers were great
But now for some company I constantly wait
My sleep is filled with dreams of days gone by
and each morning I awake with a tear in my eye.
They call me a predator, they don't understand
I'm simply a hunter with no gun in hand
I desire no trophy to hang on my wall
But just a full belly when night starts to fall.
Envious of my dog cousins and his master's love
And howling with loneliness to the Heaven's above
Though I long for a touch or a pat on the head
By nature's decision I'll have freedom instead.
Married for life to such a beautiful mate
Until last winter when a bullet decided her fate
The pups are all grown and gone from the den
And I'm too old and stubborn to start over again.
Now I'm truly a loner the legend is true
But forever searching for a friend like you
It's so hard to express but I'll try if I can
In your own words "hey I love you man".
As your world grows and buildings get taller
My little hiding place keeps getting smaller
If you don't come to your senses sometime soon
Then who will be left to howl at the moon?

Touch of a Friend

An angel was sent down from heaven one day
to visit a child who had nothing to say.
Now this young child was poor - great wealth she did lack,
but she always was happy in spite of the fact.
Until one day it happened - her best friend went away
and it left her heartbroken with nothing to say.
Now the task of the angel was a great one indeed,
to give hope to a heart that was so much in need.
And though great riches and power were at the angels command
he sent a lost puppy and the healing began.
The girl cheered the puppy as he chased down a stick
and she started to giggle as her face he would lick.
Then without any warning the girl whose heart broke
found some reason for saying these words that she spoke -
"I love you little puppy - I hope you will stay!
We will always be friends and together we’ll play."

Now the little girl was happy though she still remained poor,
for she had a new friend someone to care for.
You see riches and power are fine things indeed
but for a broken heart that is not what you need.
The angel was wise for he knew in the end
how to mend a broken heart with the touch of a friend.

My dogs are some of my greatest
teachers when it comes to love.
When I get home I can always expect
to hear them barking joyously and
bouncing back and forth happily.

They are always delighted to see me
no matter what mood I'm in.
They are always ready to be touched,
hugged, and petted on. My littlest one
takes great pleasure in jumping on my
lap and licking me on the chin.
Everyday and in every way my dogs
show me a love that is both joyful
and unconditional.

We all should take a lesson or two
from our puppy professors. We all
should see that it is far more joyful to
love unconditionally than it is to place
limits on our love.

The great Leo Buscaglia once said that,
"When you cease placing conditions
on your love you have taken a giant
step toward learning to love."

I would also say that when you
cease placing conditions on your joy
and happiness you have taken a giant
step toward learning to be joyous and happy.
Dogs seem to know this instinctively.

They don't wait for
conditions to be right before they wag
their tails and give you their love.
They don't wait for good news to play
and have fun. They don't wait for
the perfect moment to be happy.
They instead revel in each and every
moment that they are given.

Don't be afraid to take a dog's
advice then.
Don't be afraid to enjoy a sunny day
or play in the grass.
Don't be afraid to forgive easily
and completely.
Don't be afraid to find joy and
happiness in the present moment.
Don't be afraid to give love
expecting nothing in return.

I think that the reason so many of us
love dogs is the same reason that
God gave us dogs in the first place:
they show us how to love and how
to live. May all of us live as joyfully
and as lovingly as a playful puppy.

A 3-year-old went with his dad to see a litter of kittens.
On returning home, he breathlessly informed his mother that

"I think it's printed on the bottom."

The Other Side of the Door

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was leaving the room after paying a visit, and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."
Very quietly the doctor said, "I don't know."
"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"
The doctor was holding the handle of the door. On the other side of the door there came the sound of scratching and whining. As he opened the door a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager
show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice that dog? He had never been in this room before. He did not know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear. I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing: I know my Master is there, and that is enough.
And when the door opens, I shall pass through with no fear, but with gladness."

The Old Man And His Dog

He carried his dog to the S.P.C.A.
For the old man will be put in a home,
But they told him can't have an animal there...
so tomorrow he'll move in alone.

With tears in his eyes, he handed his dog
To the woman who worked there that day..
But sorrow had filled the poor old man's heart
When he  handed old Laddie away.

And Laddie just sat there, a twelve year old dog
As if he somehow understood,
And he wouldn't hurt his master...
So he acted the best way he could.

He wagged his short tail and the love in his eyes
Just seemed to be saying good-bye...
The old man started to walk away slow
Then turned back and started to cry.

"Give me my buddy, I'll take him back now...
We've been too close to part in this way
I'll find a way to keep him
After all, I've got one more day".

The old man and Laddie were both found dead
with money to buy a headstone...
They were buried together,
And the epitaph read:

Together we found a new home

"Lambing" in New Zealand

The beautiful, green hills of New Zealand, a country known for its sheep industry, are dotted everywhere with white sheep. During the yearly lambing season, thousands of baby lambs are born.
Unfortunately, some lambs die at birth. Many mother sheep are also lost during lambing season; they die giving birth. In an attempt to save the orphaned lambs, the shepherds match baby lambs who have lost
their mothers with mother sheep who have lost their lambs. It's not as easy as it sounds, though, since a mother sheep won't accept a lamb and nurse it unless it is her own.

How, then, do shepherds get a mother sheep to accept an orphaned lamb as her own? The process is as old as shepherding itself. The mother's own lamb, which has died, is skinned, and the skin of the dead lamb
is draped over the living lamb as it is placed by the adoptive mother's side.
The mother sheep then smells the skin and accepts the orphaned lamb as her own.

Lambing season in New Zealand reminds us of what was done for us on a cross two thousand years ago. When the Apostle John wrote of being saved by "the blood of the Lamb," it was in terms that people in
agrarian societies vividly understood.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesians,
"But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he... has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility..."

Because of Christ's blood, God accepts us as His own.
Once we were orphans, but now we are God's adopted children.

A Cat's Thoughts

My fur is so soft and my face is so cute,
But don't get the notion that I give a hoot.
Now sleeping is the thing that I do the best,
But sometimes I yowl like I'm demon-possessed.

I can bleat like a lamb or hiss like a snake,
I can cuddle and purr and play patty cake.
My teeth are like sabers, my claws are sharp too,
I could rip up your sofa if I had a mind to.

My needs are so humble my body so small,
Fastidious, quick, with lots on the ball.
If I'm in the mood you can give me a hug.
Sometimes I get sick and I puke on the rug.

I can run like a deer and I kick like a mule,
And to quote Mr. T, "I pity the fool"
or the one who annoys me or hassles my life
'Cause I'll fill up his days with scratching and strife.

Stealthy and savage are predators ways,
A wildlife assassin for all of my days.
When I'm slathered in gore deconstructing a mouse
I feel like a tiger, the lord of the house.

If I'm wheezing and gagging I hope you don't mind,
It's a big honkin' hairball and I'll be just fine.
It comes from the lapping and grooming and stuff,
And the fact that my tongue is sandpapery rough.

My ears are all pointy, my teeth are sharp too,
I bury my duty, and few critters do.
I can see in the dark, grab a fly from the air,
Hear a hummingbird hiccup from way over there.

A bag of clean laundry, it just smells so great.
You can dump it right here and please call me at eight.
Though I'm naughty and snotty you love me to death.
And I like you much better with fish on your breath.

I'm clean and I'm dainty, I like to climb trees,
And sometimes my dander can cause folks to sneeze.
When startled or challenged I puff up my fur,
But scratching my ears will get me to purr.

Tuna fish, birdies, the sun on the sill,
These are my goodies till I'm over the hill.
Curiosity leads me to get all my kicks.
Life is so sweet when you've mastered the tricks.

Snoozing in sunbeams, alert for a noise,
I love to sniff catnip and play with my toys.
A treasure to cherish for husband or wife,
Adorable me, I'm the cat in your life.

You feed me when I'm hungry, you keep water in my dish,
You let me sleep on anything or anyplace I wish.
You sometimes let me lick your hands, or even lick your face,
Despite the fact I've licked myself in every private place.
You taught me how to come when called, you taught me how to sit,
You always let me go outside, and never threw a fit.
I've been with you through oh, so much, through laughter
and through tears, I hope you live to be a hundred...... that's 700 in doggy years.

 Buddy

He had never been away from home this long. The trip he was about to take would find him in cities and towns he had never seen and among perfect strangers.
In the past, if he would be away for even a night, he would always leave special notes and "I love you" cards for his wife to find. A "Sleep well, my love and dream about me!" note card would always grace her pillow.
"Eat a good meal and be careful driving!" would be tucked into her day planner the night before he left.
He would always sign them,

"Say a prayer for me! I will love you always, Jim"

You see, each night before going to sleep, Jim and Julie knelt beside their bed and would say their prayers together. This special moment was shared even during those times apart. At a designated time each night they would kneel beside the bed and although in two separate locations would say their prayers out loud.
Because he traveled often, on mostly one night stays, they decided to add a special companion to their family. "Buddy," was a young mixed breed they rescued from the local dog pound. Bright, spirited and loving, Buddy made those overnights a little easier to take. But Buddy would play a very important role in their lives during this extended time away from home.

As usual, the night before he left, Jim wrote and placed his special notes throughout the house. Because of the extended length of time he also managed to mail a few special cards that would arrive almost daily.
On his first day when arriving at the airport, Jim called his wife at work to assure her that he had arrived safely.
"I'm fine!" he said. "But I miss you already!" he continued with sadness in his voice. "I miss you, too! I don't like that fact that you are so very far away," Julie told him. "The house will feel so empty without you!"
"Hey, at least you have Buddy!" Jim said laughing. "He has a special present for you. If all goes well, you'll find out about it tonight when we say our prayers. I need to go now. I still need to drive the rest of the distance to the conference. It'll take me
about four hours to get there.

"Say a prayer for me, I will always love you!"

It was about 9 p.m. that night and Julie had not yet received a phone call from Jim. He had promised to call when he arrived.
At about 9:15 the phone rang.
"Julie, this is Tom. I work with your husband." the voice on the phone said.
"Is everything okay?" Julie asked.
"Julie, there's been an accident. I'm with Jim here at the local hospital." There was a pause. "He's in bad shape," Tom said.
"I need to be there!" she immediately responded.
"Julie, it would be best if you waited until morning. There is no way to get you here safely."
"Will he be alright?" she asked. There was silence. "Will he be alright?" she shouted.
"God will take care of him," was the reply.
He went on to tell her that they had arranged for her to be flown directly to the area first thing in the morning. As she hung up the phone, the silence was broken by a desperate plea.
"Dear God! Help us!" she screamed.
Buddy, who had been seated by her side, suddenly ran upstairs.

Julie thought that she had frightened him. Glancing at the clock she noticed that it was 10 p.m. their designated time for prayer together. Feeling this to be more important than ever, she ran upstairs to say her prayers for his recovery.
As she entered the room, there along side the bed was Buddy. He was sitting with his head bowed and for as long as he could, he kept raising his right paw. He paused for a moment and looked at her. Wagging his tail he ran over to her barking.
Julie took her place kneeling beside the bed.
"Dear God," she said. Buddy jumped up, ran over next to her, lowered his head and raised his right paw.
Baffled by his response she continued her prayers.
As she pleaded for Jim's life, Julie happened to glance up and there sticking out from under the covers was a note from Jim.
It said, "If you said your prayers tonight with me, you might have noticed Buddy. It took a long time, but I taught him to respond to the words "Dear God." That way you'd never be alone during our special time." As always he signed it,

"Say a prayer for me. I will always love you, Jim."
Julie turned toward Buddy and once again repeated, "Dear God." He returned to the same position, peeking up every once in a while looking for the loving approval he always got from Jim. If tears could make rivers, one would have flowed from that room.
Julie eventually fell asleep lying on the floor next to Buddy. It was about 6 a.m. when the phone rang awakening her abruptly.

"Julie, this is Tom," she heard a voice say.
"Julie, the doctors say Jim will be okay. They have no idea how this all turned around so quickly. It's a miracle!"
"Dear God!" she said and Buddy, responding to the words, sat down, lowered his head and raised his right paw.

"Amen!"

"I believe in you!"

Mornin', my little Vet Visit,

Judi brought in a litter of golden retriever puppies to a veterinary
clinic for inoculations and worming. As the look-alike pups
squirmed over and under one another in their box, the vet
realized it would be difficult to tell the treated ones from the rest.

So, the vet turned on the water faucet, wet his fingers, and
moistened each dog's head when he had finished.

After the fourth puppy, the vet noticed Judi, who'd been
chattering her fool head off up to that point, had grown silent.
As the vet sprinkled the last pup's head, the woman leaned
forward and whispered, "I didn't know they had to be baptized,
too."
