Life Centre Ministries (LCM) is a non-denominational
Independent church fellowship. Each church is run by the Pastor and his
appointed elders and deacons. Each assembly is indigenous and sovereign.
All assemblies use the LCM constitution and by-laws and agree on the articles
of faith. Each assembly fully fellowships with one another regardless of
colour or race.
All assemblies follow the example
of the Life Centre in world mission work.
All are encouraged to participate
in LCM missions programs.
Each country has a chosen National
Director with whom the founder corresponds and depends upon for cousel
in that country's needs and projects.
History
of Life Centre Ministries
LCM was started by Jack and Betty Lockwood
in the country of South Africa.Their first endeavour was among the Asian
Indians in Port Shepstone in 1968.
The growth was astounding and a
church in Arizona said they would furnish funds to build a Training Centre
in Port Shepstone for training nationals. From this came the Life Centre.
As ministries and missionaries
went forth from the Life Centre - it seemed natural the Corporation should
be formed and called "Life Centre Ministries". This corporation was formed
and became incorporated in December of 1978. Federal exemption was also
received in 1979. All gifts to LCM are therfore tax deductable.
Today LCM has churches in South
Africa, India, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Transkei,
Bophuthatswana, Venda, Australia, Malaysia, Poland and the Phillipines.
What We
Are Doing
The aim of LCM is to establish a New
Testament form of church government as was shown by the church at Jerusalem
in the book of Acts. This is being done as each assembly becomes self-governing,
self-supporting and self-propagating in the work of Jesus Christ. The new
churches are pioneered by LCM personnel and then turned over to the Nationals
of each country to carry forth the message of Jesus Christ.
LCM endeavours to pioneer, train
and establish a local assembly. Then help build that assembly a church
facility and send them forth into the world with the good news of Salvation.
Priorities
One of the priorities in LCM is to
assist in training national leaders. This is done by building and supplying
Life Bible Colleges in
each major language of the respective country. Even the colleges are then
staffed by trained nationals. Thus the great commission is constantly being
heeded.LCM provides curriculum for Bible Studies in over 40 subjects. Some
are from ministries other than LCM, but are solid studies.
Life Bible College (LBC) does not
intend to be a Theological Seminary. Rather, LBC is used as a tool to get
ministers grounded and out into the fields learning by experience those
things taught to them in the LBC courses.
Most people on mission fields cannot
go to a Theological college because of the cost. We try to make it possible
to get grounded in the Word through LBC.
