Enjoy music, art, food and good company for He delights in His children's happiness. This is true worship, living in praise for all the good your Father in heaven has done for, and wants to do in you. Live in the presence of your Father then and do not worry, precious moments are lost through worry. Worry looks down, praise and faith looks up, up to the marvellous Creator and Father who created and fathers all; He is worthy of all admiration and beholding. When the soul is released in death, all the pain of the innocent is swallowed up in God. In heaven there is no evil and sickness is no more, our broken hearts and bodies are mended and His love heals all our wounds. Imagine that you have completed your mission here on earth, and was just about to fall asleep and enter paradise. As you lay there, all the troubles of this unbelieving and deceived world wouldn't mean very much, they are completely out of your hands and there is nothing you can do. Ross If the church were just another autonomous gathering of people with common interests, that would be one thing. But because the church is the moral linchpin of the greater society the defilement of the church produces the moral decline and eventual destruction of the greater society. This is the issue that has faced humanity since Adam and Eve left the Garden. When God told Adam that he would "surely die" (Genesis 2:17) in the day that he ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, he had this death in mind. He didn't mean that Adam would die before the sun set that particular day. Rather, He meant that human society would inescapably collapse from the moral rot that would ensue from the disobedience and/or disregard of God's Word. Continued Below |

"Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he
is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written,
'He catches the wise in their craftiness,' and again, 'The Lord
knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile'" (1
Corinthians 3:18-20). Again the King James Version is instructive.
It translates "aiōn" as "world" rather
than "age." "If any man among you seemeth to be wise
in this world...." This is the primary theme of First
Corinthians so far, "Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the
world?" (1 Corinthians 1:20). And Christians are not immune from the pervasiveness of secular humanism in contemporary society. It is virtually everywhere in contemporary culture. Yet, not quite everywhere. For a few people in a few churches cling to the truth that worldly wisdom, secular ideas and ways of doing things, are utterly foolish in the light of Christ. It's not a popular position, even in most churches. Oh, Christians agree with such an idea when they're at church. When we see it in Scripture we do not deny God's truth. Yet, when we walk out the doors of the church, we are confronted by the common values and practices of secular humanism that categorically and comprehensively deny the validity and applicability of Scripture. Nowhere do we see the wisdom of Jesus Christ lived out in the world! Another way to say it is, everywhere we see the wisdom of the world and the implementation of science and technology without any reference to Christ. Everywhere we see the domination of nature and the apparent success of market forces through the application of the values and practices of secular humanism. The experience and history of the modern world teach that the world has made foolish the wisdom of Christ. The result is that Christians live out schizophrenic lives, believing one way in church and another way outside of church. No matter how faithful we are, no matter how much we believe Scripture and trust Christ, we are bombarded by the opposite teaching because of the pervasiveness of secular humanism in the contemporary world. We cannot escape it.
To seriously challenge
the common wisdom and values of secular humanism makes life
difficult because people react negatively when their most basic
beliefs are contradicted or suggested (or shown) to be false. Trust
me, I know! The more you try to systematically and comprehensively
apply the wisdom of Christ in the world, the more people will think
that you are crazy, and the more successful you are in this effort,
the more angry they will get. Paul has been contrasting wisdom and foolishness. Sometimes he uses the same word to mean both the real wisdom of Christ and the false wisdom of the world. The contrasts are laid out several different ways to insure that we don't misunderstand what he is saying. In 1 Corinthians 3:18 he urges his listeners to become foolish in the eyes of the world by proclaiming and acting upon the wisdom of Christ. Earlier he admonished his listeners to abandon the foolishness of the world. But the point is clear -- God's wisdom and the world's wisdom are not the same.

Doctrine The first thing anyone should do when joining a church is to thoroughly check it's doctrine, what do they actually believe. There are significant differences in a church's doctrine even between the main line churches, i.e. Baptists, Church of England (Anglican) & Others. Baptists - Baptism is by full immersion. Church of England - Baptism (Christening) at a font, or other water containing receptacle.
True or False? As a basic guideline to determine the truth of a church, ask yourself: Is our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, glorified? Are, (if any) spiritual manifestations always secondary to this? Is emphasis always placed on Jesus Christ as Saviour & Lord and encouragement made to ask Him in to your own life? Do they believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit? The answer to diversity in unity? Source: Rahab's Church
Finances Is undo emphasis placed on a churches financial requirements, or do they trust God to provide? Whilst acknowledging a church obviously needs money, are "carrot on a stick" tactics used to relieve one of cash? i.e. "Tithing to God 10% of your earnings (Old Testament Law) is just giving back God His due, but that "Love Gift" you provide over the top of this, (to their church presumably) the Lord will really bless you for?" Be very cautious of Churches that advocate the so called "Prosperity Gospel." What profiteth a man if he gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Source: Rahab's Church
The Holy Spirit Genuine revivals can take place in churches un deniably, and the "Born Again" believer can experience a genuine boost, a further infilling of the Holy Spirit, and that is Scriptural. Any church that claims it has a new revelation from God, that is not in accord with God's communication to man, the Bible, is in error and as such any supernatural revelations it claims to have received, should be treated with great caution and discernment. The deceiver, Satan is always at work, "seeking whom he may devour." The Bible says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." Please always bare this in mind, especially when a "new enlightenment" is advocated. They happen, but if of God, the Holy Spirit NEVER leads contrary to Scripture and always glorifies Christ. Source: Rahab's Church On Guard You are not going to be condemned to hell for being sceptical, it is Scriptural to "Test the Spirits." Many cults find fertile pastures in new Christians. Be ever wary of anyone that adds additional demands to the Newly Born Again Christian Saved by Grace. Especially where confusion is caused. I am not referring here to advice that helps one grow in grace, but advice that by it's very nature would imply, Christ's sacrifice was not enough to cover all our sins, you need to add something more.
