ADMISSION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  1. Applicant(s) for Kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1 of the school year for which they are applying.

  2. Applicant(s) for first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1 of the school year for which they are applying.

  3. The following must be received before the student is considered enrolled or re-enrolled at ESPL:

    a) Enrollment/Re-enrollment form.

    b) Emergency Form.

    c) Proof of up to date immunizations as required by MN Statute for grades K-8.

    d) Kindergarten students must provide proof of kindergarten screening and a copy of their birth certificate.

    e) Registration fee paid in full or a minimum of $50.00. The full amount is due on or before June 1st. This fee is non refundable unless the school is unable to accept a student.

    f) Applicant(s) transferring from another school must provide a copy of his/her report card and a teacher recommendation form completed by the students previous teacher.

    g) The principal will interview all first-time applicants and their parents. Parents will be asked to sign a parent code. Students will also be asked to sign the student code. Returning students will not be interviewed but both the parents and student will be required to complete the appropriate code each year.

  4. When the above information has been reviewed and the interview conducted, a new student will be accepted with a probation period to follow. The probation period will be no more than one quarter of the school year. At that time a conference will be held to assess the students' academic progress, work habits and behavior.

  5. New applicants in grades 1-8 will be tested for placement in math and reading before or at the beginning of the new school year.

  6. ESPL requires uniform dress.

  7. Since available facilities limit the number that can be enrolled, the following order of admission has been established:

    a) Students whose parents are members of the congregations which make up the East St. Paul Lutheran Association.

    b)Students whose parents are members of congregations which hold affiliate membership in the East St. Paul Lutheran Association.

    c) Students who have a sibling currently enrolled in East St. Paul Lutheran.

    d) Students from: 1)a sister Lutheran Church Missouri Synod congregation; 2) other Lutheran churches; 3) other Christian Churches.

    e) Students whose parents desire a Christian education.

    East St. Paul Lutheran admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin, to all rights. privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarships or loan programs and athletic and other school administered programs.
