Healthy You...
LIGHT!

Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the
eyes to behold the sun.
Ecclesiastes 11:7

Probably the first thing you think of when you see "light" is
"The Light of the World is Jesus". He also told His
disciples--and thus, Christians in general--that we are to be
"a light".

I do not worship the sun every chance I get. In fact, I use
sunscreen! My father and my grandfather on my mother's side
both suffered from skin cancer. I have VERY fair skin, blue
eyes, freckles.... I'm a prime candidate! But still, it is
important to have a daily dose of sunshine, as well as adequate
natural lighting in your home!

My husband often teases me about wanting a double basement in
his "dream house". To that I say, I don't even want a BASEMENT
that is to be "lived in". I find rooms without windows
depressingly dark and drear. I wouldn't mind a basement for
storage; but quite frankly, I don't even want the laundry to be
in a windowless room! I spend a LOT of time in there!!

Light effects us mentally and emotionally. That is a
scientifically proven FACT. People who live in climates that
are rainy or just plain DARK much of the year have a much
higher risk of being clinically depressed, and thus, sadly,
have a higher suicide rate.

I am from the Sunshine State, and I know the benefits of
sunshine! The biggie? Vitamin D! Our bodies need this vitamin
to utilize calcium! Sunshine also contains healing properties
that are not available elsewhere. Studies have discovered that
proper--not excessive--exposure to sunlight lowers blood
pressure, reduces the resting heart rate, balances the
production of hormones, strengthens the immune system, lowers
blood sugar, increases cardiac output, and increases stress
tolerance levels. Unfortunately, the depletion of the ozone
layer (since the Genesis FLOOD) causes concern when too much sun is
absorbed! It is best to spend time in the sunlight during the
cooler parts of the day.

Studies have also found that families living in large cities
have an increased chance of rickets--Vitamin D deficiency--due
to air pollution, skyscrapers, and narrow streets. Sufficient
sunshine is not able to penetrate the skin. Sunlight is a
tremendous gift. It has been provided for our good, and we need
to make time in our hectic, daily schedules to enjoy it!
This verse is talking about testimony light, but I love it and
will conclude this section with it:
Then shall thy light break forth as the morning,
and thine health shall spring forth speedily:
and thy righteousness shall go before thee;
the glory of the LORD shall be thy reward.
Isaiah 58:8
Your light, your good testimony will GLOW. Your righteousness as an obedient
child of God will be a testimony to the lost world around you,
not for your own glory, but for GOD'S!
