~* ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH *~ 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. The Bible teaches that angels are the ministering servants of God and that they are continually being sent to help and protect us, the heirs of salvation. Certainly their most important task, however, was this momentous occasion announcing Christ's arrival on Earth! The angels gave the Gospel--the good news of salvation come to mankind! Look back with me at verse 17. When the shepherds saw Mary and Joseph and the Christ Child, what did they do? Yes. They made known abroad the saying which was told them--by the angels--concerning this Child! Although little is known of its origins, this inspiring 18th Century French carol has become a favorite around the world. ![]() Angels we have heard on high Sweetly singing o’er the plains, And the mountains in reply Echoing their joyous strains. Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? What the gladsome tidings be Which inspire your heavenly song? Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Come to Bethlehem and see Him Whose birth the angels sing; Come, adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord, the newborn King. Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Gloria, in excelsis Deo! See Him in a manger laid, Whom the choirs of angels praise; Mary, Joseph, lend your aid, While our hearts in love we raise. Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Gloria, in excelsis Deo! ![]() *For Today*: Luke 1:46-55; Luke 2:7-20 Rejoice that we as Christians are given the blessed responsibility of sharing with the lost the good news of the Gospel! Christ is born! He came to die on the cross for the sin of the world! Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved! Thank God for His gift of salvation while singing this beautiful refrain: Gloria in excelsis Deo! Glory to God in the highest! Music url: The Cyber Hymnal
