I can hardly believe we've come to another SPRING!!!
What a blessing springtime always is, even in Hawaii, where
the weather seemed to be springtime perpetually!
There are many special days for us in the spring...
several family birthdays and fun days.
But the most important part of Spring is what most people call
"Easter Sunday"....
What does "Easter" mean to YOU???
Bunnies?
Colored Eggs?
Baskets?
Candies?
Flowers?
Or something MORE....
Our family celebrates Spring
a little differently than most people do.
This has been VERY special...let me share with you:
I have no problem with baskets, bunnies, eggs, baby critters
UNLESS
they take away from the beauty and sacredness of
the Resurrection of my Lord & Saviour,
Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God!!!
What we do as a family is, depending on the calendar *_*
1. Celebrate "Happy Spring" on the first day of Spring!
(March 21st is the Vernal Equinox...
official first day of Spring *_*)
We enjoy all the baby critters and flowering plants
as God's creation!
2. Observe God's Passover, which is also a celebration
As we know the Passover is pointing from the Exodus
to that perfect sacrificial Lamb, the LAMB OF GOD....
3. Observe Resurrection SonDay
The day celebrating Jesus Resurrection from the Grave!!!
The perfect sacrifice COMPLETE!!!
In studying through the Bible -- God's Holy Word -- we find
that God requires a blood sacrifice to cover, to atone, for sin.
In the Old Testament, entire books are dedicated to
how to present an acceptable sacrifice to God.
I don't understand all the whys of it, but that is what God commands.
JESUS CHRIST, God's only begotten Son, died on a cross at Calvary.
His death was the perfect sacrifice...the only possible payment for our sin.
Because He died, we can LIVE through accepting his blood atonement for our sin!
What a reason to REJOICE!!!
Our sin is forgiven and we are acceptable to God through Christ!
But what then?
Romans chapter 12 mentions another sacrifice...the sacrifice of our own selves:
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a LIVING SACRIFICE,
holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
It's a "reasonable" thing to give of ourselves to God
when He has given His ALL for us.
So when you think "Easter" this year, think "NEW LIFE"...
Not just baby critters and flowers and such, but a NEW LIFE to live...IN CHRIST *_*

to thank Thee, dearest Friend,
for this Thy dying sorrow,
Thy pity without end?
O make me Thine forever;
and should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
outlive my love for Thee.
