Released March 28th 2006!![]() When Landon Spears and Chandler Bennett graduate from Crown University, each feels the need to join the war efforts across the seas. The Great War is raging in the European theatre; and although the United States sought neutrality at first, the fight for freedom from German oppression became an American battle cry as well. Both men join the military, though they are separated, as Chandler becomes a chaplain in the US Army while Landon receives his commissioning as a naval officer. Charlotte Bennett is blessed with love, becoming a war bride and saying farewell to her beloved and talented Eric. And Rachel Whittle, the only child of Albert and Celia Whittle, re-enters the vignettes as a Red Cross Troop Train nurse. Will the war keep these families divided, or will the LORD bring them through this fiery trial to come forth as gold? Read the next story in The Bennett Vignettes, A Time of War; and grow with the Bennetts and their loved ones as they face the extreme trials of life and death during "The War to End All Wars"--World War I. ![]() I am so pleased to present the third book in The Bennett Vignettes. My love for the LORD and for people was the driving force in writing, as it is my heart's desire to share with as many people as I can that GOD'S WORD has the answers to life's trials. With a spouse and many friends serving in the military, I have a special place in my heart for war veterans. It is with a heart of love that I share this fictional narrative, reminding the reader and myself that God is in control, even in a time of war. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 ~ ![]() ![]() The second movement of Antonín Dvorák's "New World" Symphony is combined with a favorite hymn of mine in A Time of War,... And thank you for praying! ![]() A Time of War is an Inspirational, Historic Romance set primarily in Baltimore, Maryland during World War I. My goal was to write such a book with as much or more emphasis on the spiritual condition of the characters as on their personal lives and romantic involvement. When I began writing The Bennett Vignettes, my husband was active duty Navy, currently on shore duty. I chose Baltimore, Maryland as a "backdrop" because the last submarine he was on was the USS MARYLAND (SSBN 738). But we really hope that my writing can be successful enough to supplement our income, allowing our children to continue in Christian education. ![]() A Time of War Copyright 2005 Jennifer M.
