What if you were God for just one day
And look upon this world and its sinful way?
Would you be able to impart
Lasting peace within men's heart?
What if we fail to keep your words
And forsake the promises we've heard?
Would you be able to forgive
And still within our hearts do live?

Would you give us saving grace
Each time we come before your face?
Or would you in anger cast us away
Without listening to a word we say?
What if we refuse to obey the laws you set aside
Would you turn and walk away or still knock to come inside?
Would you answer when we call
Or show your love to men at all?

Would you forgive us when we stumble
And carry our cross without a grumble?
Would you walk up Calvary's road
And carry on your shoulders sins heavy load?
Or would you call the host of heaven
To destroy mans' very existence ?
Would you be patient when we have sinned
And in your blood wash us clean?

Would you love us without condition
Or prepare for us a place in heaven?
What if we fail to give you praise
And thank you for your love
Would you still send your Holy Spirit
To guide us from above?
Or would you give your only son
To prove to us your love?

Lord If I were you for just one day
I would close mine eyes and turn away
For the things I'd see when I look down on men
I would never give my life to save from sin.
Lord, I know it grieves your heart
When men from your laws and words depart
Each day we come with some excuse, to justify our sinful state.
But oh what a joy it is to know, that only you are God alone
For no man would have such patience to deal with this sinful world
