I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort

Today is Second Sunday after Christmas and all
are welcome. Having prepared faithfully during the season of Advent,
we celebrate with joy the full twelve days of Christmas. The Twelve
Days of Christmas are the twelve days from Christmas until the
beginning of Epiphany (January 6th; the 12 days count from December
25th until January 5th). Christmas hymns and carols will be sung
throughout this period. The Gloria is resumed, and Eucharistic
Prayer B with its emphasis on the Incarnation will be used through
out the Christmas and Epiphany seasons. The Twelfth
Night is January 5th, the last day of the Christmas Season
before Epiphany (January 6th), and traditionally included feasting
along with the removal of Christmas decorations.
Let us pray for all those affected by The South-East Asia
Earthquake and Tsunami that affected several countries
throughout South and Southeast Asia, as well as Somalia, Tanzania,
and Kenya in East Africa. Most of those affected are the poor who
live in little shanties by the sea. They have lost everything.
The Episcopal Church Episcopal Relief and
Development has begun emergency response efforts for which it
welcomes financial contributions. ERD representatives request that
contributions be directed to Episcopal Relief and Development, South
Asia Relief Fund, P.O. Box 12043, Newark, NJ07101.
