The Word became flesh and made his
dwelling among us
It’s the Second Sunday after Christmas, and everyone is
most welcome at this special celebration. Today we are also
observing the days just before Epiphany. This special Feast,
normally celebrated on January 6th, commemorates the revealing of
Jesus as the Christ to the Gentiles. In some European countries, the
popularity of this Feast is known as the "Twelfth Night" (after
Christmas).
Let us
pray for: All people in the troubled lands of Africa (especially
Liberia) and the Middle East. We also pray for Presiding Bishop
Frank Griswold, Diocesan Bishop John Croneberger, and Assistant
Bishop Rufus Brome, and their wives. We remember in prayer Cleveland
Clarke, Francis Colormam, Janice Nugent, Mary Ellen Miller, Rudolph
Perry, and Aquinda Toppins. We pray for the repose of the soul of
Frank Waiters, Sr. Finally we pray for all congregations in our
diocese, especially those in Newark.
The Rev. Herbert
G. Draesel is our celebrant today. He is recently retired
rectorof Holy Trinity in Manhattan. We welcome him to our chancel
this morning.
HYMNS THIS
SUNDAY
Fairest LORD
Jesus.
Brightest and
Best of the Stars of the Morning
Jesus Shall
Reign
Blessed be the name!
All Hail the
Power of Jesus' Name
