I would like to start out by saying that I have a 15 year old boy that has
ADHD. At first, like most parents, I just wanted to blame the schools for
labeling my son. I did not want to get him the treatment, medication or
help that he needed. It was not until a dear friend of mine pointed out
to me that if he was a diabetic, had lukemia, cancer or high blood pressure
that I would not mind giving him his medication. Man alive did that hit
my heart. I want parents to know that number one, they are not alone, and
two, you can live with it and help the children. My son was having such
a hard time coping in school that my husband and I chose to homeschool.
We taught him at home for 2 years. It was a learning and growing
experience for us as well as his older brother, (now 17). This year,
they both wanted to go to puplic school. - Through the Lords leadership,
we allowed it. Jason is doing great. His grades are up, and happy to report
no on medication. He is at a middle school that changes classes 6 times
a day, so that keeps him busy. His behavior is much better as well. Jason
is also very active in the church he goes to. He has learned how to channel
that extra energy and use it for the Lord. Happy to report, Jason is now in
the 9th grade changing classes 4 times a day. He has been the manager for cross
country, basketball and now baseball. Through his experience at home, he learned
to channel his energy. UPDATE: HE graduated High School with good grades. He is now in the National Guard. Jason is 21. He is now a very productive person. It is our prayer that this site
will help you. I want this to be a learning site. One for all of us to
grow and find the needed information.
