We think ahead to peace in the valleys at this time, and know the lion will rest beside the small child, and a small child would put his hand on the cockatrice' den without any harm. These are said to be deadly serpents but no harm will come to the child who will play around these formerly wild beasts. The animals will be  tamed at this time and it has been said will be changed to eat only vegetation. We see the different stages or ages of children mentioned in Isaiah 12, which also shows us children will be there and will also be born in the Millennium.

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; (these are mentioned to inhabit Engedi), and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.   These animals will be tamed by the power of the Messiah, and nothing shall in any wise hurt or destroy in all his holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

We believe this interesting place, the oasis of Engedi, will be in this haven of rest and peace.  This area is called 'the valley of the kid' from Bible times.   The wild goat and leopard will be at peace with each other during this time, and the flowing waters that are said to be there now will be even greater as we see a description given of waters issuing from the throne room and sanctuary of God and flowing down to the desert and valley to heal everything in it's path.

As we read God's Word and think upon the time of the future and of a Day of Peace, we can see eternal bliss for those who belong to the Lord and keep following Him until the end.  Isaiah 12: 3 tells us, "And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord;  and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears;  but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.  All things will be made holy and righteous by the Lord in that day.  There will be peace in the valley, in every part of God's Holy land, including En Gedi, from which we get a picture of the flowing waters in spite of the heat in the wilderness around this place.

As the words to a song say, "God is an "Oasis" in dry places, he makes living waters flow." He is as living water that gives life also to everything he touches that will receive Him and believe on Him.  He will make all things new and the saved of the Lord shall enter into their rest for all eternity.  Peace and eternal rest is promised for the Child of God. There are so many wonderful promises and the description of how it shall be in the time when our Lord comes to rule and reign on earth, it is too awesome for us to fully envision. From descriptions in God's word and his promises, we have an eternal hope in Him and know that the best is yet to come. No matter where one may be on earth in that day, it shall be peace when the government is restored to a theocracy, (Divine government), as the Lord intended in the beginning. He alone will be the King forever.

There will be universal peace and religion as the result of the preaching of the gospel to the ends of the earth.  The glory of God will be continually manifest.  A new eternal covenant will be carried out forever.  Satan will be bound and there will be no tempter at this time.  There will be a rebuilding of the waste places of the Earth and also great highways.  All will be fruitful and prosperous during this time of the seventh dispensation of the ages which will be the days of Heaven on earth.

A garden paradise shall be as in the beginning, and nothing shall in no wise harm one in all of God's holy mountain.
We shall serve our God and be with him forevermore. As salt of this earth, we must keep our savor so we might be of value to the Lord now and eternally.  There is a great day coming in the future.  As the song says, "What a day, a wonderful day that shall be." Even so,  "come quickly, Lord Jesus!"

     Blessings in Christ,

Footnotes:

**There is also a city called the City of Salt, mentioned only in Joshua 15, which is somewhere by the Dead Sea.

**Zechariah 14: When Christ sets his feet on the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem, there will be a great earthquake.  Many think the whole country will be changed from what the Scriptures reveal and that the Dead Sea will be raised and have an outlet to purify the waters which are now stagnant and have been shut up for all these centuries. There will be the marshes left to provide salt.  There shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. The valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal.

***The 'leaves of the trees for the healing of the Nations' has a spiritual application first of all,  and refers to those who are rooted and grounded in the Word of the Lord.  The Psalm One type Christians are referred to as like "a tree"  planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  Jesus is the Vine and we are the branches symbolically.   If we bear fruit of the Lord as Christians, it can reach forward as healing to the Nations as God's love is shed abroad through the branches of the Lord on earth.   Our leaf will be 'evergreen' and not fade, if we are planted or grounded in the Lord.   Jesus is the Living Water that we must have our roots in as Christians, and be planted by these Living Waters for the roots to be strong and draw from the source of power, God's Holy Spirit given by the Lord.  Healing comes from the Lord as the source of power and flows only by His Living Waters from above, which  shall never cease.    (Psalm 1) .....(John 15: 5)
