| Basic Religious Groups | |||||||||
| Here is a list of basic religious groups that you have the option of joining: Christian, Jewish, Moslem, Buddhism, New Age, Atheist. Which group initially had the duty of sharing God's Truth with mankind? The Jews. When the Jewish people rejected their Messiah, Yeshua/Jesus, who spread God's Truth? The Christians. What was the Truth the Christians were to teach? They taught that Jesus/Yeshua was the Messiah, and that mankind needed to repent of their sins and obey God's Law -- and God's grace would enable them to obey. Did the gentiles like learning all these "Jewish" things? The Jews were a hated and misunderstood people -- and when Christianity finally became popular in Europe in the 4th and 5th centuries, the Christian leaders of the 4th and 5th centuries did not like being seen as "2nd generation Jewish holy men" -- they taught from a "Jewish" holy book, and taught about a "Jewish" Son of God -- so in an attempt to convert more pagans and not look too much like "2nd generation Jewish holy men," the Emperor Constantine passed the world's first Sunday Law in 321 AD. When was the 7th day Sabbath created? It was made during Creation Week, 2500 years before a "Jew" existed; Abraham was the very first "Jew." How did "Sunday" become the day of worship? The Catholic Church of Rome passed laws to stop Christians from "Judaizing" on the 7th day and make people observe just "Sun-day" -- and these laws intensified over the years wherein Christians were ordered to obey "upon pain of death"! Revelation 14:9 warns us not to accept the Mark of the Beast (a false system of worship) -- how do we avoid the Mark of the Beast? Verse 12 tells us that if we wish to avoid the Mark of the Beast we must "keep the commandments of God" and "have faith in Jesus" -- so there will be a people at the End of Time who keep the Ten Commandments, ALL TEN OF THEM. Which of these churches keeps all of God's Ten Commandments? Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses? The answer: None of them keeps the 4th Commandment. What is the 4th Commandment? Exodus 20:8-11 -- "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God, in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, they manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within they gates; For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." What does the Catholic Church say about changing the Sabbath? "Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles ... From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrents the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week [Saturday] to the first [Sunday]." -- Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia, August 1900. "If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath day [Saturday]. In keeping Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic Church." -- Albert Smith, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, replying for the Cardinal in a letter dated February 10, 1920. (There are NUMEROUS other quotes we could show you!) Is there any verse in the New Testament that tells us to worship God on Sunday? There are only 8 texts in the New Testament that mention "the first day of the week" -- and not one of them tells us that the 7th day has been cancelled and that we are now to worship on the pagan day of the sun, "Sun-day." Paul directed believers to look over their secular affairs on the first day of the week in 1Corrinthians 16:2, and the meeting held in Acts 20:5-12 was a Saturday night meeting, NOT a Sunday daytime church meeting. The entire Jewish culture was set up around Sabbath-keeping -- if the new Christians were to now start keeping "Sun-day," the New Testament would have been filled with controversies and arguments about cancelling the 7th day and switching over to the 1st day! What does the Bible tell us about the Sabbath? Isaiah 66:23 tells us that "all flesh" in the New Earth will worship God each Sabbath throughout all eternity! If the 7th day Sabbath is so important to God, don't you think that it is important for you to learn about it. Saturday is the Sabbath Day....Sons Of Light.Old Covenant (Law of Moses) “For the law was given by Moses,” John 1:17 New Covenant (Grace) “[but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” John 1:17b You can sum up the requirements of the Old Covenant with this thought. “Do this and thou shalt live. Don’t do this and thou shalt die.” (Ex. 19:5, Ex. 31:12, Deut. 30:16-20 Rom. 10:5) You can sum up the requirements of the New Covenant with this thought. “Believe this and you shall live. Don’t believe this and you shall die.” (Rom. 10:6-11, John 5:24, 8:24) The Law of Moses was introduced under the Old Covenant. (Ex. 19:1-20:26, Heb. 7:11, John 1:17) Grace and Mercy was introduced under the New Covenant. (John 1:16-17, Heb. 8:12, 10:16,17) The Old Covenant demanded perfect obedience to God’s holy law. A transgression on just one point brought the penalty of the law which was death. (Rom. 6:23, Gal. 3:10-12, James 2:10) The New Covenant demanded faith in Christ. By placing their faith in Christ Jesus a person would become righteous and receive life. (Acts 13:37-39, Rom. 3:21-22, John 1:12, 3:16, Eph. 2:7-9) The Old Covenant was one of condemnation. There was no mercy or grace under the law of the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant was external written on stone. It brought forth death and condemnation. (2 Cor. 3:6,7,9, Gal. 3:10,11) The New Covenant was one of grace and mercy. It was internal written on the heart. It brought forth life and peace with God. (John 1:16, Eph. 2:7-9, 2Cor. 3:3,6, Heb. 8:10, 10:16) The Old Covenant had a fault in that it could not produce life or bring one near to God. (Heb. 8:7,8, Heb. 7:18,19, 10:1-4, Rom. 3:20, Gal. 3:21-25) The New Covenant had the power to give life. We draw near to God through the New Covenant. (John 1:12, Heb. 7:19, 9:9-15) The Old Covenant was abolished, annulled and made obsolete by the New Covenant. It was temporal and made of no effect by the New Covenant. (Rom. 7:1-6, Eph. 2:13-16, Heb. 7:18,19 8:13, 10:9) The New Covenant is everlasting. It is based on the promises of God.(Heb. 13:20, Is. 55:3, 61:8) The Old Covenant was given to the house of Israel only. It never was given to the Gentile people. It became void with the bringing in of the New Covenant. (Ex. 19:1-6, Heb. 7:18, 8:13, 10:9) The New Covenant was a better Covenant with better promises. It was given to the Jew as well as the Gentile. (Heb. 7:22, 8:6, Eph. 2:11-22, Acts 28:28) No flesh was ever saved or justified by the law. Deut. 27:26, Rom. 3:20, Gal. 3:10-12, James 2:10 Old Covenants saints were redeemed as a result of the New Covenant. (Heb. 9:15, 11:7-40) Sons Of Light. | |||||||||
