FRIENDSHIP
(inspired by the gracious heart of Eileen Breedlove)
We cannot know what others think,
But we hope they think no ill,
And no one likes to slowly sink,
In dreams they cant fulfill.
We reap so oft what we don’t sow,
Ill seeds sown by another,
That in our hearts as anguish grow,
Self confidence to smother.
Thus we lose faith in truer friends,
Withdraw from where we fast,
For what we nurture still depends,
On how long friendships last.
For friendship is a kind of love,
That never fades with time,
Unblemished as a pure white Dove,
Like truth that can’t decline.
Tis when the harsh white Winter comes,
Or when our thoughts are low,
Or when our different view becomes,
Views none do want to know.
Tis then that friendship meets the test,
For friends will all stand firm,
For they will stand up with the best,
Will Understand and learn.
And if you haven’t yet found this truth,
What friendship really means,
Use not the word lest it be proof,
Of shared and heartfelt dreams.
For friends are friends or not at all,
Who know not black from white,
Who help their fellows when they fall,
To live in Gods pure light.
