My husband lost his set of the apartment keys one day while we
were living in Singapore. When he told me, I felt an uneasiness
in my heart. I began praying for the Holy Spirit to show me
where the keys were. We searched everywhere, but it was nowhere
to be found. My husband even went downstairs to ask the security
guard. Security is provided for our apartment. The guard stated
he was not aware of any keys handed in. He even looked around
the table where he sat.
I resumed my praying, and continued to do so until I fell asleep
that night. Suddenly at 5:15 a.m. I was woken up. My eyes just
flew open, and stared at the ceiling. I remembered the keys, and
continued to ask the Holy Spirit to show me where they were.
At about 6:00 a.m. the door-bell rang. The door-bell has never rung at 6:00 a.m. before, and I was nervous. I was still praying at the time. I immediately woke my husband to come with me to see who it was. When we opened the door it was the security guard, whom we checked with last night. He said he had a set of keys with a label on it. The label indicated our address. I believe my husband must have asked where he had found
them. He looked down for awhile, all the time his eyes were averted, as he replied he saw it by the roadside not far from our apartment block. Overcome by happiness I kept praising God and thanking him for being a messenger, of God, to return our keys, but
half-way through my speech he bolted. No sooner had he dropped the keys into my hand, he just dashed off in the middle of what I was saying. Thinking nothing of it, I just went back inside, praising God some more to my husband.
My husband's probing mind suspected something amiss. The next
day when he returned from work he stopped by to talk to the
guard. This time it was another guard doing the shift: a lady.
When he brought up the subject of lost keys, she immediately
informed him that they had found our keys dangling from the post
box. Our address was on it so she knew they were our keys. My
husband must have gone to retrieve the mail, but forgot to lock
the box, and take the keys in the process. The lady guard said
that she was too busy to come up. She knew in all likelihood we
would come down to check with security, and then she would hand
over the keys. When her shift was over, and we still had not
come down, she left word with the man who took over from her,
for the night shift, to hand over the keys to us. That man was
the same one my husband checked with, the night before, but he
claimed he had no such keys!! And that was the same guard who
rang the door-bell at 6:00 am in the morning.
I knew then why I had an uneasy feeling. There must have been some mischief planned, but it was thwarted by the Holy Spirit. I don't know what on earth could have gone through that guard's mind. All I know is he acted very suspiciously. If he had rung the bell, to check if anyone was home, why do it at 6:00 a.m. when the occupants are bound to be home? Most people are not around in the daytime as they go to work then. After that incident he was gone. We never saw him again. When my husband asked the lady guard one day about him, she said he is no longer working with them. There had been many complaints about him. So he had left.
