Greetings! My name is John Wagnon. I believe the Lord has called me and my family to lead the new church plant in Hernando, MS. My wife's name is Wendy, and my son's name is John Javan. We just call him Javan. Let me tell you a little about us. I grew up in Corinth, MS where I attended Waldron Street Christian Church. As a youth, in the summers, I attended West Tennessee Christian Camp where I was baptized into Christ. I received my B.A. degree in Bible/Preaching from Johnson Bible College in 1993 and my M.A. degree in New Testament Studies from Johnson Bible College in 1999. I became the youth minister at First Christian Church in Harriman,TN in 1992 and became the preaching minister there in 1994 up until 2003. As far as my likes, interests, and hobbies are concerned, I enjoy playing drums, riding four wheelers in the woods, reading, watching FOX News, and Football. I met my wife Wendy at Johnson Bible College and we were married in 1992. Wendy grew up in Latrobe, PA, and attended Hempfield Church of Christ (instrumental) in Greensburg, PA. She received her B.S. in Bible and Elementary Education in 1991 from Johnson Bible College and her M.A. in Elementary Education from Tennessee Tech in 1997. She has taught elementary school for the past 11 years. While at First Christian Church, Wendy has been very active in the youth program--- she has taught te Jr. Church for over ten years, directed Vacation Bible Schools, and written several Christmas and Easter programs. I believe God has given Wendy a special gift for working with children. She will be serving as the Children's Minister at the new church. Wendy enjoys scrapbooking, cooking, gardening, watching HGTV, Trading Spaces, and A Wedding Story.
My son, Javan, was born to us in 1999. He is a real joy and a real "handful" too! He loves Bible stories and has already started praying. We hope he continues down this path. He also likes playing with his plastic animals, Lego blocks, and watching his favorite video series, Veggie Tales and Barney. He can't seem to get enough of that purple dinosaur!
We are very excited about the new church in Hernando. We believe God has big plans for this new church. However, this endeavor is a very big step of faith for us. So please remeber us in your prayers.
Sincerely,
John
