The Christian Family

"Crispus, who was the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with all his family; and many other people in Corinth heard the message, believed, and were baptized." (Acts 18:8)

Here is the model christian home, everyone believes in the Lord and puts their faith in him. Unfortunatly this isn't always the case in our homes. How do we get to this point?

"And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4)

The brunt of the responsability in having a Godly family rests on the parents. As parents we should teach our children to have faith in the Lord, not only through instruction but also through our example.
We teach through instruction by teaching children the scripture and how to take that scipture and apply it to our daily lives. This is very important to the spiritual growth of anyone. After all word of God is suposed to be the bases of how we live our lives, what kind of lives will our children live if they don't know the scripture? We should also teach them how to search the scriptures for answers so that when they are on their own they can find the answers to their daily problems and questions.

Just as important as instruction is example. How could we expect our children to live a christian life if we ourselves don't? We can't. We must live our lives as we want our children to live their's. If you want them to respect other people then don't talk down about other people yourself. If you want them to have a good relationship with God, you must have a good relationship with God and they must see it.

If you truly want to have a family that is alive in the Lord, don't be afraid to pray, Bible study, and worship togeather in your home or where ever you may be. This teaches how much you love the rest of your family, how much you love God, and that God isn't only for church. It may even teach you a few things.
