He has pastored Baptist churches and missions for 45 years. He received his education at Howard College in Birmingham, Alabama and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is married to the former Evellyn Gillespie of Speake, Alabama. They have four sons and two grandsons.
He and his wife spent five years in pioneer mission work in Illinois, Ohio and Michigan starting new churches in areas where one was needed. He now serves as associate pastor, preaches in revivals and fills in when he is called upon.
