" A SWEET MEMORY OF YOU "

On this hot sultry afternoon
I was sittin' on the patio snappin' beans.
The air hung heavy with the scent of lavendar.
Bees buzzed as they fluttered in the garden.
Birds flitted in and out of the bath.
When a cool breeze
Lifted the damp hair from my neck.
It whispered a remembrance of you.
I captured the memory of long ago.
And just like that!
(SNAP!)
Familiar sensations came flooding back...

I took a long slow drink of iced tea.
Savored the sugary tart lemon flavor on my tongue.
I brushed the hair off my face
And entertained an image of you.

There you stood at the end of the hall,
Watching me as I approached.
(SNAP! SNAP!)
As I neared, ( our first meeting)
I saw the green in your laughing eyes.
I watched as a slow lazy smile
Spread across your face.
I held my breath.
My pulse fluttered.
My heart went WILD!
Then
( SNAP!)

In that suspended moment of time,
I realized,
You were for me and I was for you.
I was undone...

Then with our very first kiss,
We entered a world of our own.
Thirty years later we're there still.
(SNAP! SNAP! SNAP!)
With feelings too deep to identify.
Feelings pure and true.
You lovin' me.
Me lovin' you.
And STILL after all this time,
When you flash the green in those hazel eyes.
I fall straight into your lovin' arms.
(SNAP!)

And STILL,
After all this time,
When you smile that slow lazy smile,
My heart goes WILD!

In fact, if you MUST know...
Just the 'thought'
Of that slow lazy smile,
Drives me WILD!
Just the 'thought'
Of those flashing green hazel eyes,
And...
Oh my,
what will I do NOW?
Sittin' here lost in memory of you...
I forgot...
To finish snappin' the beans!
